4 Por eso, mientras todavía contamos con la promesa de entrar en ese reposo de Dios, debemos tener cuidado, no sea que alguno de ustedes no lo logre. 2 Porque nosotros recibimos el anuncio de la buena noticia, lo mismo que ellos; pero a ellos no les sirvió de nada el oírlo, porque no se unieron por la fe con los que habían obedecido al mensaje. 3 Pero nosotros, que hemos creído, entraremos en ese reposo, del cual Dios ha dicho:
«Por eso juré en mi furor
que no entrarían en el lugar de mi reposo.»
Sin embargo, Dios había terminado su trabajo desde que creó el mundo; 4 pues en alguna parte de las Escrituras se dice del séptimo día:
«Dios reposó de todo su trabajo el séptimo día.»
5 Y otra vez se dice en las Escrituras:
«No entrarán en mi reposo.»
6 Pero todavía falta que algunos entren en ese lugar de reposo, ya que, por haber desobedecido, no entraron los que primero recibieron el anuncio. 7 Por eso, Dios ha vuelto a señalar un día, un nuevo «hoy», y lo ha hecho hablándonos por medio de lo que, mucho tiempo después, David dijo en la Escritura ya mencionada:
«Si hoy escuchan ustedes lo que Dios dice,
no endurezcan su corazón.»
8 Porque si Josué les hubiera dado reposo a los israelitas, Dios no habría hablado de otro día. 9 De manera que todavía queda un reposo sagrado para el pueblo de Dios; 10 porque el que entra en ese reposo de Dios, reposa de su trabajo, así como Dios reposó del suyo. 11 Debemos, pues, esforzarnos por entrar en ese reposo, para que nadie siga el ejemplo de aquellos que no creyeron.
12 Porque la palabra de Dios tiene vida y poder. Es más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos, y penetra hasta lo más profundo del alma y del espíritu, hasta lo más íntimo de la persona; y somete a juicio los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón. 13 Nada de lo que Dios ha creado puede esconderse de él; todo está claramente expuesto ante aquel a quien tenemos que rendir cuentas.

14 Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, es nuestro gran Sumo sacerdote que ha entrado en el cielo. Por eso debemos seguir firmes en la fe que profesamos. 15 Pues nuestro Sumo sacerdote puede compadecerse de nuestra debilidad, porque él también estuvo sometido a las mismas pruebas que nosotros; sólo que él jamás pecó. 16 Acerquémonos, pues, con confianza al trono de nuestro Dios amoroso, para que él tenga misericordia de nosotros y en su bondad nos ayude en la hora de necesidad.

4 Mangatakot (A)nga tayo, yamang may iniwang pangako ng pagpasok sa kaniyang kapahingahan, baka sakaling sinoman sa inyo ay maging tulad sa di nakaabot niyaon.
2 Sapagka't tunay na tayo'y pinangaralan ng mabubuting balita, gaya rin naman nila: (B)nguni't hindi nila pinakinabangan ang salitang napakinggan, dahil sa walang kalakip na pananampalataya ang nangakarinig.
3 Sapagka't tayong nagsisipanampalataya ay nagsisipasok sa kapahingahang yaon; gaya ng sinabi niya,
(C)Gaya ng aking isinumpa sa aking kagalitan,
Sila'y hindi magsisipasok sa aking kapahingahan:
bagama't ang mga gawa ay nangatapos mula nang itatag ang sanglibutan.
4 Sapagka't sa isang dako ay sinabi niya ang ganito tungkol sa ikapitong araw, (D)At nagpahinga nang ikapitong araw ang Dios sa lahat ng kaniyang mga gawa;
5 At sa dakong ito ay muling sinabi,
Sila'y hindi magsisipasok sa aking kapahingahan.
6 Kaya't yamang may natitira pang ibang dapat magsipasok doon, (E)at ang mga pinangaralan nang una ng mabubuting balita ay hindi nangapasok dahil sa pagsuway,
7 Ay muling nagtangi siya ng isang araw, Ngayon pagkatapos ng ilang panahon na sinabi sa mga awit (F)ni David (ayon sa sinabi na ng una),
Ngayon (G)kung marinig ninyo ang kaniyang tinig,
Huwag ninyong papagmatigasin ang inyong mga puso.
8 Sapagka't kung ibinigay sa kanila ni (H)Josue ang kapahingahan, ay hindi na sana niya sasalitain pagkatapos ang ibang araw.
9 May natitira pa ngang isang pamamahingang sabbath, ukol sa bayan ng Dios.
10 Sapagka't (I)ang pumasok sa kaniyang kapahingahan ay nagpahinga naman sa kaniyang mga gawa, gaya ng Dios sa kaniyang mga gawa.
11 Magsipagsikap nga tayo ng pagpasok sa kapahingahang yaon, upang huwag marapa ang (J)sinoman ayon sa gayong halimbawa ng pagsuway.
12 Sapagka't (K)ang salita ng Dios ay (L)buhay, at mabisa, at matalas kay sa alin mang tabak na may dalawang talim, at bumabaon hanggang sa paghihiwalay (M)ng kaluluwa at espiritu, ng mga kasukasuan at ng utak, at (N)madaling kumilala ng mga pagiisip at mga haka ng puso.
13 At walang anomang nilalang na hindi nahahayag sa kaniyang paningin: nguni't ang lahat ng mga bagay ay hubad at hayag sa harapan ng mga mata niyaong ating pagsusulitan.
14 Yaman ngang tayo'y mayroong (O)isang lubhang dakilang saserdote, (P)na pumasok sa kalangitan, si Jesus na Anak ng Dios, ay (Q)ingatan nating matibay ang ating (R)pagkakilala.
15 Sapagka't tayo'y (S)walang isang dakilang saserdote (T)na hindi maaaring mahabag sa ating kahinaan, kundi isa na (U)tinukso sa lahat ng mga paraan gaya rin naman natin (V)gayon ma'y walang kasalanan.
16 (W)Magsilapit nga tayong may pagkakatiwala sa luklukan ng biyaya, upang tayo'y magsipagtamo ng awa, at mangakasumpong ng biyaya upang tumulong sa atin sa panahon ng pangangailangan.

A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God
4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.(A) 2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.[a](B) 3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. 4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”[c](D) 5 And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”(E)
6 Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,(F) 7 God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
8 For if Joshua had given them rest,(H) God would not have spoken(I) later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[e](J) just as God did from his.(K) 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.(L)
12 For the word of God(M) is alive(N) and active.(O) Sharper than any double-edged sword,(P) it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.(Q) 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.(R) Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest(S) who has ascended into heaven,[f](T) Jesus the Son of God,(U) let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.(V) 15 For we do not have a high priest(W) who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are(X)—yet he did not sin.(Y) 16 Let us then approach(Z) God’s throne of grace with confidence,(AA) so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
