Gott will uns Ruhe schenken

Deshalb müssen wir alles daransetzen, dass keiner von uns das Ziel verfehlt. Denn Gottes Zusage, uns seine Ruhe zu schenken, ist noch nicht erfüllt. Auch uns gilt ja diese gute Botschaft, die Gott unseren Vorfahren gab. Ihnen freilich nutzte dies nichts; denn sie haben Gottes Zusage zwar gehört, aber sie vertrauten Gott nicht. Doch wir, die wir ihm vertrauen, werden zu der Ruhe gelangen, die Gott versprochen hat.

Gott hat gesagt: »In meinem Zorn über ihren Unglauben habe ich geschworen: Niemals sollen sie in das verheißene Land kommen, nie die Ruhe finden, die ich ihnen geben wollte!«[a] Und das sagte Gott, obwohl es diese Ruhe von allem Anfang an gab, als Gott die Welt geschaffen hatte. Es heißt doch vom siebten Schöpfungstag: »Nachdem Gott alles geschaffen hatte, ruhte er am siebten Tag von seiner Arbeit.«[b] Dennoch schwört Gott: »Niemals sollen sie in das verheißene Land kommen, nie die Ruhe finden, die ich ihnen geben wollte!« Das bedeutet: Gottes Angebot, uns seine Ruhe zu schenken, besteht auch heute noch. Zuerst galt dieses Versprechen ja unseren Vorfahren. Doch sie haben seine Erfüllung nicht erlebt, weil sie sich Gottes Willen widersetzten. Darum hat Gott einen neuen Tag festgesetzt, an dem er sein Versprechen erfüllen will. Dieser Tag heißt »Heute«. Lange Zeit nach seiner ersten Zusage ließ er durch König David sagen: »Heute, wenn ihr meine Stimme hört, dann verschließt eure Herzen nicht.«[c] Hätte Josua unsere Vorfahren tatsächlich in die Ruhe hineingeführt, würde Gott später nicht von einem anderen Tag sprechen.

Gottes Volk erwartet also bis heute die Zeit der Ruhe, den wahren Sabbat. 10 Wer zu dieser Ruhe gefunden hat, wird von aller seiner Arbeit ausruhen können, so wie Gott am siebten Schöpfungstag von seinen Werken ruhte. 11 Darum lasst uns alles daransetzen, zu dieser Ruhe Gottes zu gelangen, damit niemand durch Ungehorsam das Ziel verfehlt. Unsere Vorfahren sind uns darin ein warnendes Beispiel.

12 Gottes Wort ist voller Leben und Kraft. Es ist schärfer als die Klinge eines beidseitig geschliffenen Schwertes, dringt es doch bis in unser Innerstes, bis in unsere Seele und unseren Geist, und trifft uns tief in Mark und Bein. Dieses Wort ist ein unbestechlicher Richter über die Gedanken und geheimsten Wünsche unseres Herzens. 13 Gottes Augen bleibt nichts verborgen; vor ihm ist alles sichtbar und offenkundig. Jeder Mensch muss Gott Rechenschaft geben.

Christus tritt vor Gott für uns ein

14 Lasst uns also unerschütterlich an unserem Bekenntnis zu Jesus Christus festhalten, denn in ihm haben wir einen großen Hohenpriester, der vor Gott für uns eintritt. Er, der Sohn Gottes, ist durch den Himmel bis zu Gottes Thron gegangen. 15 Doch er gehört nicht zu denen, die unsere Schwächen nicht verstehen und zu keinem Mitleiden fähig sind. Jesus Christus musste mit denselben Versuchungen kämpfen wie wir, doch im Gegensatz zu uns hat er nie gesündigt. 16 Er tritt für uns ein, daher dürfen wir voller Zuversicht und ohne Angst vor Gottes Thron[d] kommen. Gott wird uns seine Barmherzigkeit und Gnade zuwenden, wenn wir seine Hilfe brauchen.

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.(A) For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.[a](B) Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,

“So I declared on oath in my anger,
    ‘They shall never enter my rest.’”[b](C)

And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”[c](D) And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”(E)

Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,(F) God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts.”[d](G)

For if Joshua had given them rest,(H) God would not have spoken(I) later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[e](J) just as God did from his.(K) 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.(L)

12 For the word of God(M) is alive(N) and active.(O) Sharper than any double-edged sword,(P) it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.(Q) 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.(R) Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Jesus the Great High Priest

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest(S) who has ascended into heaven,[f](T) Jesus the Son of God,(U) let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.(V) 15 For we do not have a high priest(W) who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are(X)—yet he did not sin.(Y) 16 Let us then approach(Z) God’s throne of grace with confidence,(AA) so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

(E)“They shall not enter my rest.”

Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news (F)failed to enter because of disobedience, again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,

(G)“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”

For if Joshua had given them rest, God[b] would not have spoken of another day later on. So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, 10 for whoever has entered God's rest has also (H)rested from his works as God did from his.

11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so (I)that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. 12 For (J)the word of God is living and (K)active, (L)sharper than any (M)two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and (N)discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And (O)no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are (P)naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Jesus the Great High Priest

14 Since then we have (Q)a great high priest (R)who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, (S)let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest (T)who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been (U)tempted as we are, (V)yet without sin. 16 (W)Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Apan bisan mao kadto ang nahitabo, nagapabilin sa gihapon ang saad sa Dios nga makadawat kita sa kapahulayan nga gikan kaniya. Busa magbantay gayod kita kay basin kon duna kanatoy dili makadawat niini. Kay sama kanila nakadungog usab kita sa Maayong Balita. Dili ba nga mao kini ang gi-ingon sa Kasulatan mahitungod sa ikapito nga adlaw: “Sa ikapito nga adlaw mipahulay ang Dios sa tanan niyang mga buhat.”[b] Ug gi-ingon usab, “Dili gayod nila madawat ang kapahulayan nga gikan kanako.” Klaro nga gituyo sa Dios nga may makadawat niadto nga kapahulayan, apan ang mga nakadungog kaniadto sa Maayong Balita wala makadawat tungod kay wala sila mosunod sa Dios. Busa nagahatag pa gayod ang Dios ug kahigayonan karon, tungod kay sa paglabay sa daghang mga katuigan nagsulti siya pinaagi kang David, sama sa nahisgotan na:

“Kon madunggan ninyo karon ang tingog sa Dios,
ayaw patig-aha ang inyong mga kasingkasing.”[c]

Kay kon tinuod nga nadala ni Josue ang mga tawo kaniadto sa kapahulayan, wala na unta magsulti ang Dios nga may lain pa gayod nga adlaw nga ang mga tawo hatagan niya ug kapahulayan. Busa may kapahulayan pa gayod nga gitagana ang Dios alang sa iyang katawhan, ug kini nga kapahulayan sama sa pagpahulay sa Dios sa ikapito nga adlaw. 10 Kay si bisan kinsa nga makadawat sa kapahulayan nga gikan sa Dios makapahulay na sa iyang mga buluhaton, sama nga ang Dios mipahulay human niya nabuhat ang tanan. 11 Busa tinguhaon gayod nato nga ang kapahulayan atong madawat. Dili gayod kita mosundog sa mga tawo kaniadto nga wala magsunod sa Dios, kay basin kon dili usab kita makadawat ug kapahulayan sama kanila.

12 Kay ang pulong sa Dios buhi ug gamhanan, ug mas hait pa kaysa espada nga duhay sulab. Modulot kini sa kinahiladman sa kalag ug sa espiritu, ug hangtod sa mga lutalutahan ug sa utok sa bukog. Nasayran niya ang mga butang nga ginahunahuna ug ginapangandoy sa mga tawo. 13 Walay makatago gikan sa Dios; ang tanan makita niya ug dayag gayod sa iyang panan-aw, ug kaniya kita mohatag ug husay sa atong mga binuhatan.

Si Jesus ang Atong Pangulong Pari

14 Busa kuptan gayod nato ang atong ginatuohan, tungod kay may gamhanan kita nga pangulong pari nga atua na didto sa langit. Ug kini walay lain kondili si Jesus nga Anak sa Dios. 15 Ang atong pangulong pari makabati usab sa atong mga kaluyahon, kay ang tanang mga pagsulay nga nagaabot kanato naagian usab niya, apan wala gayod siya makasala. 16 Busa dili kita magpanuko sa pagduol sa trono sa maluloy-on nga Dios, aron madawat nato ang kalooy ug tabang sa oras sa atong panginahanglan.
