Hebrews 8:7-13

New International Version

⁷For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.^(A) ⁸But God found fault with the people and said^[a]:

“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
    when I will make a new covenant^(B)
with the people of Israel
    and with the people of Judah.
⁹It will not be like the covenant
    I made with their ancestors^(C)
when I took them by the hand
    to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
    and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
¹⁰This is the covenant^(D) I will establish with the people of Israel
    after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
    and write them on their hearts.^(E)
I will be their God,
    and they will be my people.^(F)
¹¹No longer will they teach their neighbor,
    or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,^(G)
    from the least of them to the greatest.
¹²For I will forgive their wickedness
    and will remember their sins no more.^(H)”^[b]^(I)

¹³By calling this covenant “new,”^(J) he has made the first one obsolete;^(K) and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

Hebrews 10:11-18

New International Version

¹¹Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices,^(A) which can never take away sins.^(B) ¹²But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins,^(C) he sat down at the right hand of God,^(D) ¹³and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool.^(E) ¹⁴For by one sacrifice he has made perfect^(F) forever those who are being made holy.^(G)

¹⁵The Holy Spirit also testifies^(H) to us about this. First he says:

¹⁶“This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”^[a]^(I)

¹⁷Then he adds:

“Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more.”^[b]^(J)

¹⁸And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
