¹⁶ For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he ^(A)helps the offspring of Abraham.

²⁹ And ^(A)if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, ^(B)heirs according to promise.

¹⁶ Now ^(A)the promises were made ^(B)to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, ^(C)“And to your offspring,” who is Christ.

¹⁶ That is why it depends on faith, ^(A)in order that the promise may rest on grace and ^(B)be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, ^(C)who is the father of us all, ¹⁷ as it is written, ^(D)“I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, ^(E)who gives life to the dead and calls into existence ^(F)the things that do not exist. ¹⁸ In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, ^(G)“So shall your offspring be.” ¹⁹ He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was ^(H)as good as dead (^(I)since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered ^(J)the barrenness^[a] of Sarah's womb. ²⁰ No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, ²¹ fully convinced that ^(K)God was able to do what he had promised. ²² That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” ²³ But ^(L)the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, ²⁴ but for ours also. It will be counted to us ^(M)who believe in ^(N)him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, ^25 (O)who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised ^(P)for our justification.

¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, ^(A)that we may share his holiness.

¹⁶ For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes ^(A)an oath is final for confirmation.

²⁵ For circumcision indeed is of value ^(A)if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

¹⁸ and ^(A)in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, ^(B)because you have obeyed my voice.”
