13 Let ^(A)brotherly love continue.

Obedience by Faith

^20 (A)If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, ^[a]how can he love God ^(B)whom he has not seen? ²¹ And ^(C)this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Obedience by Faith

5 Whoever believes that ^(D)Jesus is the Christ is ^(E)born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.

Called to Blessing

⁸ Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be ^[a]courteous;

The Enduring Word

²² Since you ^(A)have purified your souls in obeying the truth ^[a]through the Spirit in ^[b]sincere ^(B)love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

⁷ to godliness brotherly kindness, and ^(A)to brotherly kindness love.

¹⁷ Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear ^(A)God. Honor the king.

⁵ And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: ^(A)that we love one another. ^6 (B)This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that ^(C)as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

^9 (A)He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. ^10 (B)He who loves his brother abides in the light, and ^(C)there is no cause for stumbling in him.

²⁴ And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,
