Iniutos ng Panginoon na Muling Itayo ang Templo
1 Nang(A) ikalawang taon ni Haring Dario, nang unang araw ng ikaanim na buwan, dumating ang salita ng Panginoon sa pamamagitan ni propeta Hagai kay Zerubabel na anak ni Sealtiel, na gobernador ng Juda, at kay Josue na anak ni Jehozadak, na pinakapunong pari:
2 “Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo: sinasabi ng bayang ito na hindi pa dumarating ang panahon, upang muling itayo ang bahay ng Panginoon.”
3 Nang magkagayo'y dumating ang salita ng Panginoon sa pamamagitan ni propeta Hagai.
4 “Panahon ba para sa inyong mga sarili na manirahan sa inyong mga bahay na may kisame, samantalang ang bahay na ito ay nananatiling wasak?
5 Ngayo'y ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo: Pag-isipan ninyo ang inyong mga lakad.
6 Kayo'y naghasik ng marami ngunit umaani ng kaunti; kayo'y kumakain, ngunit hindi kayo nabubusog; kayo'y umiinom, ngunit hindi kayo nasisiyahan; kayo'y nagdaramit, ngunit walang naiinitan; at kayong tumatanggap ng sahod ay tumatanggap ng sahod upang ilagay sa supot na may mga butas.
7 “Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo: Pag-isipan ninyo ang inyong mga lakad.
8 Umahon kayo sa bundok, kumuha kayo ng kahoy, at itayo ninyo ang bahay upang kalugdan ko iyon at ako'y luwalhatiin, sabi ng Panginoon.
9 Kayo'y naghanap ng marami, at nakakita ng kaunti; at nang inyong dalhin sa bahay, iyon ay aking hinipan. Bakit? sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo. Dahil sa aking bahay na nananatiling wasak, samantalang tumatakbo ang bawat isa sa inyo sa kanya-kanyang sariling bahay.
10 Kaya't dahil sa inyo pinipigil ng langit na nasa itaas ninyo ang hamog, at ipinagkakait ng lupa ang bunga nito.
11 At ako'y nagpatawag ng tagtuyot sa lupa, at sa mga burol, sa trigo, sa bagong alak, sa langis, sa mga ibinubunga ng lupa, sa mga tao at sa mga hayop, at sa lahat ng pinagpagalan.”
12 Nang magkagayo'y si Zerubabel na anak ni Sealtiel, at si Josue na anak ni Jehozadak, na pinakapunong pari, pati ang lahat ng nalabi sa bayan, ay sumunod sa tinig ng Panginoon nilang Diyos, at sa mga salita ni propeta Hagai, na siyang sinugo ng Panginoon nilang Diyos; at ang bayan ay natakot sa harap ng Panginoon.
13 Nang magkagayo'y nagsalita si Hagai, na sugo ng Panginoon ayon sa mensahe ng Panginoon sa bayan, “Ako'y sumasainyo, sabi ng Panginoon.”
14 At kinilos ng Panginoon ang diwa ni Zerubabel na anak ni Sealtiel, na gobernador ng Juda, at ang espiritu ni Josue na anak ni Jehozadak, na pinakapunong pari, at ang diwa ng buong nalabi sa bayan. Sila'y dumating at ginawa ang bahay ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, na kanilang Diyos,
15 nang ikadalawampu't apat na araw ng ikaanim na buwan nang ikalawang taon ni Haring Dario.

The Commission to Rebuild the Temple
1 In the (A)second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of [a]Yahweh came by the hand of (B)Haggai the prophet to (C)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, (D)governor of Judah, and to (E)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, 2 “Thus says Yahweh of [b]hosts, ‘This people says, “The time has not come, even the time for the house of Yahweh to be rebuilt.”’” 3 Then the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 “Is it time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses while this house (F)lies waste?” 5 So now, thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Set your heart to consider your ways! 6 You have (G)sown much, but bring in little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but there is [c]not enough to become drunk; you put on clothing, but no one is warm enough; and he who earns, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
7 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Set your heart to consider your ways! 8 Go up to the [d]mountains and bring wood and (H)rebuild the house of God, that I may be (I)pleased with it and be (J)glorified,” says Yahweh. 9 “(K)You look for much, but behold, it comes to little; and you bring it home, and I (L)blow it away. Why?” declares Yahweh of hosts, “Because of My house which (M)lies waste, while each of you runs to his own house. 10 Therefore, because of you the (N)sky has restrained [e]its dew and the earth has restrained its produce. 11 And I called for a [f](O)drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground brings forth, on (P)men, on cattle, and on (Q)all the labor of [g]your hands.”
12 Then (R)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and (S)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, (T)listened to the voice of Yahweh their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Yahweh their God had sent him. And the people (U)feared Yahweh. 13 Then Haggai, the (V)messenger of Yahweh, spoke by the commissioned message of Yahweh to the people saying, “‘(W)I am with you,’ declares Yahweh.” 14 So Yahweh stirred up the spirit of (X)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, (Y)governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the (Z)remnant of the people; and they came and (AA)did work on the house of Yahweh of hosts, their God, 15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.
