18 Domnul i S-a arătat la stejarii(A) lui Mamre, pe când Avraam şedea la uşa cortului, în timpul zădufului zilei. 2 Avraam a ridicat ochii(B) şi s-a uitat, şi iată că trei bărbaţi stăteau în picioare lângă el. Când(C) i-a văzut, a alergat înaintea lor, de la uşa cortului, şi s-a plecat până la pământ. 3 Apoi a zis: „Doamne, dacă am căpătat trecere în ochii Tăi, nu trece, rogu-Te, pe lângă robul Tău. 4 Îngăduie să se aducă puţină(D) apă, ca să vi se spele picioarele, şi odihniţi-vă sub copacul acesta. 5 Am să mă duc să iau o bucată de pâine(E), ca să prindeţi la inimă(F), şi după aceea vă veţi vedea de drum, căci pentru aceasta(G) treceţi pe lângă robul vostru.” „Fă cum ai zis”, i-au răspuns ei. 6 Avraam s-a dus repede în cort la Sara şi a zis: „Ia repede trei măsuri de făină albă, frământă şi fă turte.” 7 Şi Avraam a alergat la vite, a luat un viţel tânăr şi bun şi l-a dat unei slugi să-l gătească în grabă. 8 Apoi a luat(H) unt şi lapte, împreună cu viţelul pe care-l gătise, şi le-a pus înaintea lor. El însuşi a stat lângă ei, sub copac, şi le-a slujit până ce au mâncat. 9 Atunci, ei i-au zis: „Unde este nevastă-ta, Sara?” „Uite-o în cort(I)”, a răspuns el. 10 Unul dintre ei a zis: „La anul pe vremea(J) aceasta, Mă voi întoarce(K) negreşit la tine şi iată că Sara(L), nevastă-ta, va avea un fiu.” Sara asculta la uşa cortului care era înapoia lui. 11 Avraam(M) şi Sara erau bătrâni, înaintaţi în vârstă, şi Sarei nu-i mai venea rânduiala(N) femeilor. 12 Sara(O) a râs în sine, zicând: „Acum(P), când am îmbătrânit, să mai am pofte? Domnul meu bărbatul(Q) de asemenea este bătrân.” 13 Domnul a zis lui Avraam: „Pentru ce a râs Sara, zicând: ‘Cu adevărat să mai pot avea copil eu, care sunt bătrână?’ 14 Este(R) oare ceva prea greu pentru Domnul? La anul(S) pe vremea aceasta, Mă voi întoarce la tine, şi Sara va avea un fiu.” 15 Sara a tăgăduit şi a zis: „N-am râs.” Căci i-a fost frică. Dar El a zis: „Ba da, ai râs.”
Avraam mijloceşte pentru Sodoma
16 Bărbaţii aceia s-au sculat să plece şi s-au uitat înspre Sodoma. Avraam a plecat cu ei, să-i petreacă(T). 17 Atunci, Domnul a zis: „Să ascund(U) Eu oare de Avraam ce am să fac?… 18 Căci Avraam va ajunge negreşit un neam mare şi puternic şi în el vor fi binecuvântate(V) toate neamurile pământului. 19 Căci Eu îl cunosc şi ştiu că are să poruncească fiilor lui şi casei lui după el să ţină Calea Domnului, făcând ce este drept şi bine, pentru ca astfel Domnul să împlinească faţă de Avraam ce i-a făgăduit”… 20 Şi Domnul a zis: „Strigătul(W) împotriva Sodomei şi Gomorei s-a mărit şi păcatul lor într-adevăr este nespus de greu. 21 De aceea Mă voi pogorî(X) acum să văd dacă în adevăr au lucrat în totul după zvonul venit până la Mine şi, dacă nu va fi aşa, voi şti(Y).” 22 Bărbaţii(Z) aceia s-au depărtat şi au plecat spre Sodoma. Dar Avraam stătea(AA) tot înaintea Domnului. 23 Avraam s-a(AB) apropiat şi a zis: „Vei(AC) nimici Tu oare şi pe cel bun împreună cu cel rău? 24 Poate(AD) că în mijlocul cetăţii sunt cincizeci de oameni buni: îi vei nimici oare şi pe ei şi nu vei ierta locul acela din pricina celor cincizeci de oameni buni, care sunt în mijlocul ei? 25 Să omori pe cel bun împreună cu cel rău, aşa ca(AE) cel bun să aibă aceeaşi soartă ca cel rău, departe de Tine aşa ceva! Departe de Tine! Cel ce judecă(AF) tot pământul nu va face oare dreptate?” 26 Şi Domnul a zis: „Dacă voi(AG) găsi în Sodoma cincizeci de oameni buni în mijlocul cetăţii, voi ierta tot locul acela din pricina lor.” 27 Avraam a luat din nou cuvântul şi a zis: „Iată(AH), am îndrăznit să vorbesc Domnului eu, care nu sunt decât(AI) praf şi cenuşă. 28 Poate că din cincizeci de oameni buni vor lipsi cinci: pentru cinci, vei nimici Tu oare toată cetatea?” Şi Domnul a zis: „N-o voi nimici dacă voi găsi în ea patruzeci şi cinci de oameni buni.” 29 Avraam I-a vorbit mai departe şi a zis: „Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai patruzeci de oameni buni.” Şi Domnul a zis: „N-o voi nimici pentru cei patruzeci.” 30 Avraam a zis: „Să nu Te mânii, Doamne, dacă voi mai vorbi. Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai treizeci de oameni buni.” Şi Domnul a zis: „N-o voi nimici dacă voi găsi în ea treizeci de oameni buni.” 31 Avraam a zis: „Iată, am îndrăznit să vorbesc Domnului. Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai douăzeci de oameni buni.” Şi Domnul a zis: „N-o voi nimici, pentru cei douăzeci.” 32 Avraam a zis: „Să(AJ) nu Te mânii, Doamne, dacă voi mai vorbi numai de data aceasta. Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai zece oameni buni.” Şi Domnul(AK) a zis: „N-o voi nimici, pentru cei zece oameni buni.” 33 După ce a isprăvit de vorbit lui Avraam, Domnul a plecat. Şi Avraam s-a întors la locuinţa lui.

18 耶和華在幔利的橡樹那裡向亞伯拉罕顯現。那時天氣很熱，亞伯拉罕坐在帳篷口， 2 抬頭看見三個人站在對面，就跑去迎接他們，俯伏在地， 3 說：「我主，你們若肯賞光，請不要匆匆路過僕人這裡。 4 我讓人拿點水來，你們洗洗腳，在樹下歇一會兒。 5 我拿點餅來，你們補充一下體力再上路吧。你們既然路過這裡，我理應招待你們。」他們說：「好，就照你說的做吧！」
6 於是，亞伯拉罕連忙進帳篷對撒拉說：「快準備三斗[a]細麵粉，和麵烤餅。」 7 亞伯拉罕又跑到牛群中牽了一頭肥嫩的小牛，吩咐僕人趕快準備好。 8 亞伯拉罕把奶、乳酪和準備好的牛肉擺在客人面前，站在樹蔭下招待他們。

亞伯拉罕為所多瑪求情
16 那三個人就起身朝所多瑪眺望，亞伯拉罕與他們同行，要送他們一程。 17 耶和華說：「我要做的事怎麼可以瞞著亞伯拉罕呢？ 18 亞伯拉罕必成為強盛的大國，世上萬國必因他而蒙福。 19 我揀選了他，是要他教導自己的子孫後代持守我的道、秉公行義。這樣，我必實現對他的應許。」 20 耶和華說：「所多瑪和蛾摩拉罪惡深重，人們怨聲載道。 21 我現在要下去看看他們的所作所為是否如所說的那樣邪惡，如果不是，我也會知道。」
22 其中二人轉身向所多瑪走去，亞伯拉罕卻仍舊站在耶和華面前。 23 亞伯拉罕上前說：「你要把義人和惡人一同毀滅嗎？ 24 倘若城中有五十個義人，你還要毀滅那城嗎？你會不會為了五十個義人而饒恕那座城呢？ 25 你絕不會黑白不分，把義人和惡人一同毀滅。你是普天下的審判者，難道不秉公行事嗎？」 26 耶和華回答說：「倘若我在所多瑪城中找到五十個義人，我就要因他們的緣故饒恕全城。」 27 亞伯拉罕說：「主啊，雖然我渺小如灰塵，但我還要大膽地求問你， 28 倘若只有四十五個義人，你會因為少了五個義人而毀滅全城嗎？」耶和華說：「倘若我在城裡找到四十五個義人，我也不會毀滅那城。」 29 亞伯拉罕又說：「倘若在那裡找到四十個義人呢？」耶和華說：「為了那四十個人的緣故，我不會毀滅那城。」 30 亞伯拉罕說：「求主不要發怒，容許我再問一次，倘若在那裡只找到三十個義人呢？」耶和華說：「倘若在那裡只找到三十個，我也不會毀滅那城。」 31 亞伯拉罕說：「我大膽再問一次，倘若在那裡只找到二十個義人呢？」耶和華說：「為了那二十個人的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」 32 亞伯拉罕又說：「求主不要發怒，讓我問最後一次，倘若在那裡只找到十個義人呢？」耶和華說：「為了那十個人的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」 33 耶和華跟亞伯拉罕說完話便離開了，亞伯拉罕也回家去了。

18 Forsooth in the valley of Mamre the Lord appeared to Abraham, (as he was) sitting in the door of his tabernacle, in that heat of the day. (And sometime later, by the terebinths of Mamre, the Lord appeared to Abraham, when he was sitting by the door of his tent, in the heat of the day.)
2 And when Abraham had raised up his eyes, three men appeared to him, and stood nigh [to] him. And when he had seen them, he ran from the door of his tabernacle into the meeting of them, and he worshipped on [the] earth (And when he had seen them, he ran from the door of his tent to meet them, and he bowed low to the ground),
3 and said, Lord (My lords), if I have found grace in thine eyes, pass thou not (by) thy servant,
4 but I shall bring (thee) a little water, and your feet (can) be washed, and (so) rest ye (yourselves) under the tree;
5 and I shall set (before you) a morsel of bread, and your heart (shall) be comforted; (and) afterward ye shall pass [forth]; for therefore (be) ye bowed (aside) to your servant. Which said (And they said to him), Do thou as thou hast spoken.
6 (And) Abraham hasted into the tabernacle, to Sarah, and said to her, Haste thou, mix (up) three half bushels of clean flour; and make thou loaves baken under ashes.
7 Forsooth (then) he ran to the drove of beasts, and took thereof a calf most tender and best, and gave (it) to a servant, which hasted, and seethed the calf (and boiled the calf);
8 and (then) he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had sodden, and set (it) before them; forsooth Abraham stood beside them under the tree. And when they had eaten,
9 they said to him, Where is Sarah thy wife? He answered, Lo! she is in the tabernacle (she is in the tent).
10 To whom the Lord said, I shall turn again, and I shall come to thee in this time, if I live; and Sarah, thy wife, shall have a son. When this was heard, Sarah laughed behind the door of the tabernacle. (And the Lord said to him, I shall return, and I shall come back to thee at this same time next year, as I live; and Sarah, thy wife, shall have a son. And when she heard this, Sarah laughed behind the door of the tent.)
11 Forsooth both were old, and of great age, and woman’s terms ceased to be made to Sarah (and a woman’s terms had ceased to be made with Sarah).
12 And (so) she laughed, saying privily, After that I (have) waxed eld, and my lord is eld, shall I give diligence to lust?
13 Forsooth the Lord said to Abraham, Why laughed Sarah, thy wife, saying, Whether I an eld woman shall bear a child verily? (And the Lord said to Abraham, Why did thy wife Sarah laugh, and say, Shall I, an old woman, truly bear a child?)
14 whether anything is hard to God? By the promise I shall turn again to thee in this same time, if I live; and Sarah shall have a son. (is there anything too hard for God to do? By my word, I shall return to thee at this same time, as I live; and Sarah shall have a son.)
15 (And) Sarah was afeared for dread, and denied (it), saying, I laughed not. Forsooth the Lord said, It is not so, but thou laughedest.
16 Therefore when the men had risen (up) from thence, they (ad)dressed the eyes against Sodom (they directed their eyes toward Sodom); and Abraham went together (with them), leading them forth.
17 And the Lord said, Whether I may cover from Abraham what things I shall do, (And the Lord said to himself, Can I hide from Abraham what things I am about to do?)
18 since he shall be into a great folk and most strong, and all nations of [the] earth shall be blessed in him? (For he shall become a great and a most strong nation, and all the nations of the earth shall pray to be blessed as he is blessed/and through him I shall bless all the nations of the earth.)
19 For I know that Abraham shall command his children, and his house(hold) after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, and that they do rightfulness and doom, that the Lord bring for Abraham all things which he spake to Abraham (and that they do what is right and just, so that I shall bring to Abraham all the things that I have promised him).
20 And so the Lord said, The cry of men of Sodom and of men of Gomorrah is multiplied, and their sin is egregious greatly; (And so the Lord said to him, There is a great outcry against the people of Sodom and the people of Gomorrah, and their sin is highly egregious;)
21 I shall come down, and see whether they have [ful]filled in work the cry that came to me, that I know whether it is not so. (and so I shall go down there, and see whether their deeds have warranted the outcry that came to me, and so that I know if it is so, or not.)
22 And they turned them[selves] from thence, and went to Sodom. Abraham soothly stood yet before the Lord, (And then two of the men went forth from there, and went down to Sodom. But Abraham stood yet before the Lord,)
23 and nighed, and said, Whether thou shalt lose a just man with the wicked? (and he came over, and said to him, Shalt thou destroy the righteous along with the wicked?)
24 if fifty just men be in the city, shall they perish together, and shalt thou not spare that place for fifty just men, if they be therein? (what if fifty righteous people be in the city, shall they perish along with the others, and shalt thou not spare that place for fifty righteous people, if they be there?)
25 Far be it from thee that thou do this thing, and slay the just with the wicked, and that a just man be made as a wicked man; this is not thine that deemest all [the] earth; thou shalt not make this doom. (Far be it from thee that thou do this thing, and kill the righteous along with the wicked, and that the righteous be made like the wicked; this is not thee who judgest all the earth; nay, thou shalt not make such a judgement.)
26 And the Lord said to him, If I shall find in Sodom fifty just men in the midst of the city, I shall forgive to all the place for them. (And the Lord said to him, If I shall find in Sodom fifty righteous people in the midst of the city, I shall forgive the whole place for their sake.)
27 Abraham answered and said, For I began once (For once I began), I shall speak to my Lord, since I am (but) dust and ashes;
28 what if less than fifty just men by five be, shalt thou do away all the city for five and forty? And the Lord said, I shall not do away, if I shall find five and forty there. (what if there be five less than fifty righteous people there, shalt thou do away all the city for forty-five? And the Lord said, I shall not do them all away, if I shall find forty-five righteous people there.)
29 And again Abraham said to him, But if forty be there, what shalt thou do? The Lord said, I shall not smite for forty (I shall not strike them all down, for the sake of forty righteous people).
30 Abraham said, Lord, I beseech, take thou (it) not into indignation, if I speak (again); what if thirty be found there? The Lord answered, I shall not do (it), if I shall find thirty there.
31 Abraham said, For I began once, I shall speak to my Lord; what if twenty be found there? The Lord said, I shall not slay for twenty. (Abraham said, For once I began, I shall speak again to my Lord; what if twenty be found there? The Lord said, I shall not slay them all, for the sake of twenty.)
32 Abraham said, Lord, I beseech, be thou not wroth, if I speak yet once (more); what if ten be found there? The Lord said, I shall not do away for ten. (And Abraham said, Lord, I beseech thee, be thou not angry, if I speak yet once more; what if ten be found there? And the Lord said, I shall not do them all away, if I shall find ten righteous people there.)
33 The Lord went forth, after that he [had] ceased to speak to Abraham, and Abraham turned again into his place. (And then the Lord went forth, after that he had ceased to speak with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his home.)
