8 神 記 念 挪 亞 和 挪 亞 方 舟 裡 的 一 切 走 獸 牲 畜 。 神 叫 風 吹 地 ， 水 勢 漸 落 。
2 淵 源 和 天 上 的 窗 戶 都 閉 塞 了 ， 天 上 的 大 雨 也 止 住 了 。
3 水 從 地 上 漸 退 。 過 了 一 百 五 十 天 ， 水 就 漸 消 。
4 七 月 十 七 日 ， 方 舟 停 在 亞 拉 臘 山 上 。
5 水 又 漸 消 ， 到 十 月 初 一 日 ， 山 頂 都 現 出 來 了 。
6 過 了 四 十 天 ， 挪 亞 開 了 方 舟 的 窗 戶 ，
7 放 出 一 隻 烏 鴉 去 ； 那 烏 鴉 飛 來 飛 去 ， 直 到 地 上 的 水 都 乾 了 。
8 他 又 放 出 一 隻 鴿 子 去 ， 要 看 看 水 從 地 上 退 了 沒 有 。
9 但 遍 地 上 都 是 水 ， 鴿 子 找 不 著 落 腳 之 地 ， 就 回 到 方 舟 挪 亞 那 裡 ， 挪 亞 伸 手 把 鴿 子 接 進 方 舟 來 。
10 他 又 等 了 七 天 ， 再 把 鴿 子 從 方 舟 放 出 去 。
11 到 了 晚 上 ， 鴿 子 回 到 他 那 裡 ， 嘴 裡 叼 著 一 個 新 擰 下 來 的 橄 欖 葉 子 ， 挪 亞 就 知 道 地 上 的 水 退 了 。
12 他 又 等 了 七 天 ， 放 出 鴿 子 去 ， 鴿 子 就 不 再 回 來 了 。
13 到 挪 亞 六 百 零 一 歲 ， 正 月 初 一 日 ， 地 上 的 水 都 乾 了 。 挪 亞 撤 去 方 舟 的 蓋 觀 看 ， 便 見 地 面 上 乾 了 。
14 到 了 二 月 二 十 七 日 ， 地 就 都 乾 了 。
15 神 對 挪 亞 說 ：
16 你 和 你 的 妻 子 、 兒 子 、 兒 婦 都 可 以 出 方 舟 。
17 在 你 那 裡 凡 有 血 肉 的 活 物 ， 就 是 飛 鳥 、 牲 畜 ， 和 一 切 爬 在 地 上 的 昆 蟲 ， 都 要 帶 出 來 ， 叫 他 在 地 上 多 多 滋 生 ， 大 大 興 旺 。
18 於 是 挪 亞 和 他 的 妻 子 、 兒 子 、 兒 婦 都 出 來 了 。
19 一 切 走 獸 、 昆 蟲 、 飛 鳥 ， 和 地 上 所 有 的 動 物 ， 各 從 其 類 ， 也 都 出 了 方 舟 。
20 挪 亞 為 耶 和 華 築 了 一 座 壇 ， 拿 各 類 潔 淨 的 牲 畜 、 飛 鳥 獻 在 壇 上 為 燔 祭 。
21 耶 和 華 聞 那 馨 香 之 氣 ， 就 心 裡 說 ： 我 不 再 因 人 的 緣 故 咒 詛 地 （ 人 從 小 時 心 裡 懷 著 惡 念 ） ， 也 不 再 按 著 我 才 行 的 滅 各 種 的 活 物 了 。
22 地 還 存 留 的 時 候 ， 稼 穡 、 寒 暑 、 冬 夏 、 晝 夜 就 永 不 停 息 了 。

The Waters Recede
8 God kept Noah in mind, along with all the wildlife[a] and livestock that were with him in the ark. God’s Spirit[b] moved throughout the earth, causing the flood waters to subside. 2 The water sources from the ocean depths were blocked and the floodgates of the heavens were closed. 3 Then the flood waters steadily receded,[c] diminishing completely by the end of the 150 days. 4 The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat[d] on the seventeenth day of the seventh month. 5 The flood water continued to recede until the tenth month, when, on the first of that month, the tops of the mountains could be seen.
6 After 40 days, Noah opened the window of the ark that he had built 7 and sent out a raven. It went back and forth as the flood water continued to evaporate throughout the earth. 8 Later, he sent a dove out from the ark[e] to see whether the water that covered the land’s surface had completely[f] receded, 9 but the dove could not yet find a place to rest,[g] so it returned to Noah[h] on the ark, since water still covered the land. Noah reached out his hand and took the dove back[i] into the ark with him.
10 Noah[j] waited another seven days and sent the dove out from the ark again. 11 The dove returned to him in the evening, but in its beak there was an olive leaf that it had plucked! So Noah knew that the flood waters had decreased on the land. 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but it did not return to him anymore.
13 In the six hundred and first year of Noah’s life,[k] during the first month, the flood water began to evaporate from the land. Noah then removed the ark’s cover and saw that the surface of the land was drying. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the ground was dry.
The Lord’s Covenant
15 God spoke to Noah, 16 “It’s time for you, your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives who are with you to leave the ark. 17 Bring out with you every living creature—including the flying creatures, animals, and everything that crawls on the ground—so they may disperse throughout the land, be fruitful, and multiply throughout the earth.” 18 So Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives emerged. 19 Every animal, every crawling thing, every flying creature, and everything that moves on the earth emerged from the ark by groups.[l]
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings on it[m] from every clean animal and every clean bird. 21 When the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, he told himself, “I will never again curse the land because of human beings—even though human inclinations remain evil from youth—nor will I destroy every living being ever again, as I’ve done.
22 “Never[n] again, as long as the earth exists,
will sowing and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
and day and night ever cease.”

8 Maar God had Noach en de dieren in de ark niet vergeten. Hij stuurde de wind over het water en langzaam begon het water te zakken. 2 De ondergrondse wateren keerden weer terug naar hun normale loop en het hield op met regenen. 3 Het water zakte na honderdvijftig dagen weg en 4 op de zeventiende dag van de zevende maand liep de ark op de toppen van het Araratgebergte vast. 5 Drie maanden later kwamen ook de andere bergtoppen boven het zakkende water uit.
6 Na nog eens veertig dagen opende Noach het venster dat hij in de ark had gemaakt, 7 en liet een raaf los. Deze vloog heen en weer, net zolang tot de aarde weer droog was. 8 Daarna liet Noach een duif los om te kijken of de aarde al droog was, 9 maar de duif vond nergens een plek om neer te strijken en vloog terug naar de ark. Het water stond nog te hoog. Noach stak zijn hand uit en zette de duif weer terug in de ark.
10 Een week later probeerde Noach het nog eens. 11 De duif vloog weg om tegen de avond terug te keren met een olijfblad in haar snavel. Zo wist Noach dat het water bijna weg was. 12 Na een week liet hij de duif nog een keer los en nu kwam zij niet meer terug.
13 Op de eerste dag van de eerste maand in het jaar dat Noach zeshonderdeen werd, opende Noach de deur van de ark en zag dat het water zich had teruggetrokken. 14 Er gingen nog eens acht weken voorbij voordat de aarde helemaal droog was. 15 Toen zei God tegen Noach: 16 ‘U mag de ark verlaten, met uw vrouw, zonen en schoondochters. 17 Laat alle dieren, de vogels, het vee en alle kruipende dieren los, dan kunnen zij zich weer voortplanten en de aarde vullen.’ 18 Noach, alle andere mensen en alle grote en kleine dieren en de vogels gingen van boord. 19 In paren en groepen kwamen de dieren uit de ark.
20 Toen bouwde Noach een altaar en offerde een aantal dieren en vogels die de Here had aangewezen als offerdieren. 21 De Here was blij met Noachs offer en zei bij Zichzelf: ‘Ik zal nooit meer zoiets doen. Nooit zal Ik de aarde meer zo zwaar vervloeken en alle levende wezens vernietigen. Ook al is de mens vanaf zijn vroegste jeugd geneigd het slechte te doen en zondigt hij nog zoveel. 22 Zolang de aarde blijft bestaan, zullen zaaitijd en oogsttijd, koude en warmte, winter en zomer, dag en nacht niet ophouden.’

8 Then (A)God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and (B)God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water subsided. 2 Also (C)the fountains of the deep and the [a]floodgates of the sky were closed, and (D)the rain from the sky was restrained; 3 and the water receded from the earth, going forth and returning, and at the end (E)of 150 days the water decreased. 4 In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, (F)the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 Now the water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared.
6 Then it happened at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the (G)window of the ark which he had made; 7 and he sent out a raven, and it went out flying back and forth until the water was dried up [b]from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove from him, to see if the water was abated from the face of the land; 9 but the dove found no resting place for the sole of its foot, so it returned to him into the ark, for the water was on the [c]surface of all the earth. Then he stretched out his hand and took it and brought it into the ark to himself. 10 Then he waited yet another seven days; and again he sent out the dove from the ark. 11 And the dove came to him toward [d]evening, and behold, in its [e]beak was a freshly picked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the water was abated from the earth. 12 Then he waited yet another seven days and sent out (H)the dove; but it did not return to him again.
13 Now it happened in the (I)six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the water was dried up [f]from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and behold, the [g]surface of the ground was dried up. 14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. 15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may (J)swarm on the earth, and that they may be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” 18 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out [h]by their families from the ark.
Yahweh’s Covenant with Noah
20 Then Noah built (K)an altar to Yahweh and took of every (L)clean animal and of every clean bird and offered (M)burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And Yahweh (N)smelled the [i]soothing aroma; and Yahweh said [j]to Himself, “I will never again (O)curse the ground because of man, for (P)the [k]intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; (Q)and I will never again strike down every living thing as I have done.
22 While all the days of the earth remain,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And (R)summer and winter,
And (S)day and night
Shall not cease.”
