Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that (A)every intent of the thoughts of [a]their hearts was only evil continually. So (B)the Lord was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was (C)grieved [b]in His heart. Then the Lord said, “(D)I will wipe out mankind whom I have created from the face of the land; mankind, and animals as well, and crawling things, and the birds of the sky. For (E)I am sorry that I have made them.” But (F)Noah (G)found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

God Decides to Destroy the World

The Lord saw that human evil was growing more and more throughout the earth, with every inclination of people’s thoughts[a] becoming only evil on a continuous basis. Then the Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and he was deeply grieved about that.[b] So the Lord said, “I will annihilate these human beings whom I’ve created from the[c] earth, including people, animals, crawling things, and flying creatures, because I’m grieving that I made them.” However, the Lord was pleased with Noah.
