5 This is the book of the generations of Adam. On the day when God created man, He made him ^(A)in the likeness of God.

⁹ These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a ^(A)righteous man, ^[a](B)blameless in his generation. Noah ^(C)walked with God.

Descendants of Noah

10 Now these are the records of the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and sons were born to them after the flood.

Descendants of Shem

^10 (A)These are the records of the generations of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old when he fathered Arpachshad, two years after the flood;

²⁷ Now these are the records of the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and ^(A)Haran fathered ^(B)Lot.

Descendants of Ishmael

¹² Now these are the records of the generations of ^(A)Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s slave woman, bore to Abraham;

Isaac’s Sons

¹⁹ Now these are the records of ^(A)the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham fathered Isaac;

Esau Moves

36 Now these are the records of the generations of ^(A)Esau (that is, Edom).

Descendants of Esau

⁹ These then are the records of the generations of Esau the father of ^[a]the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.

² These are the records of the generations of Jacob.
