¹⁹ In just three days Pharaoh will lift up your head—from off you—and hang you on a tree.^[a] Then the birds will eat the flesh from your body.”^[b]

²² But Pharaoh hanged^[a] the chief baker, just as Joseph had explained to them.

¹⁴ His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him, “Have them build a gallows seventy-five feet^[a] tall.^(A) Ask the king in the morning to hang Mordecai on it. Then go to the banquet with the king and enjoy yourself.” The advice pleased Haman, so he had the gallows constructed.^(B)

⁹ Harbona, one of the king’s eunuchs,^(A) said, “There is a gallows seventy-five feet^[a] tall at Haman’s house that he made for Mordecai,^(B) who gave the report that saved^[b] the king.”^(C)

The king said, “Hang him on it.”

¹⁰ They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.^(D) Then the king’s anger subsided.^(E)
