Adam and Eve Sent Out from the Garden
3 Now (A)the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which Yahweh God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘[a]You shall not eat from [b]any tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “(B)From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God said, ‘You shall not eat from it, and you shall not touch it, lest you die.’” 4 (C)And the serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and (D)you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 (E)Then the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, so she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they (F)knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves [c]loin coverings.
8 Then they heard the sound of (G)Yahweh God walking in the garden in the [d]cool of the day, (H)and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God in the midst of the trees of the garden. 9 Yahweh God called to the man and said to him, “(I)Where are you?” 10 And he said, “(J)I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 (K)And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave to me from the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then Yahweh God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “(L)The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 And Yahweh God said to the serpent,
“(M)Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than any of the cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And (N)dust you will eat
All the days of your life;
15 And I will put (O)enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
(P)He shall [e]bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
16 To the woman He said,
“I will greatly multiply
Your pain and [f]conception,
In pain you will [g](Q)bear children;
Your desire will be for your husband,
And (R)he will rule over you.”
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’;
(S)Cursed is the ground because of you;
(T)In [h]pain you will eat of it
All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall (U)grow for you;
And you will eat the [i]plants of the field;
19 By the sweat of your [j]face
You will eat bread,
Till you (V)return to the ground,
Because (W)from it you were taken;
For you are dust,
And to dust you shall return.”
20 Now the man called his wife’s name [k](X)Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. 21 Then Yahweh God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and He clothed them.
22 Then Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of (Y)Us [l]to know good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand and take also from (Z)the tree of life and eat and live forever”— 23 therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to [m]cultivate the ground from which he was taken. 24 So (AA)He drove the man out; and at the (AB)east of the garden of Eden He stationed the (AC)cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to [n]guard the way to (AD)the tree of life.

3 Şarpele(A) era mai(B) şiret decât toate fiarele câmpului pe care le făcuse Domnul Dumnezeu.
El a zis femeii: „Oare a zis Dumnezeu cu adevărat: ‘Să nu mâncaţi din toţi pomii din grădină?’ ” 2 Femeia a răspuns şarpelui: „Putem să mâncăm din rodul tuturor pomilor din grădină. 3 Dar(C), despre rodul pomului din mijlocul grădinii, Dumnezeu a zis: ‘Să nu mâncaţi din el şi nici să nu vă atingeţi de el, ca să nu muriţi’.” 4 Atunci, şarpele(D) a zis femeii: „Hotărât că nu veţi muri, 5 dar Dumnezeu ştie că, în ziua când veţi mânca din el, vi(E) se vor deschide ochii şi veţi fi ca Dumnezeu, cunoscând binele şi răul”. 6 Femeia a văzut că pomul era bun de mâncat şi plăcut de privit şi că pomul era de dorit ca să deschidă cuiva mintea. A luat deci din rodul lui şi a mâncat(F); a dat şi bărbatului ei, care era lângă ea, şi bărbatul(G) a mâncat şi el.
Păcatul lui Adam
7 Atunci li s-au deschis(H) ochii la amândoi; au cunoscut(I) că erau goi, au cusut laolaltă frunze de smochin şi şi-au făcut şorţuri[a] din ele. 8 Atunci au auzit glasul(J) Domnului Dumnezeu, care umbla prin grădină în răcoarea zilei[b], şi omul şi nevasta lui s-au ascuns(K) de Faţa Domnului Dumnezeu printre pomii din grădină. 9 Dar Domnul Dumnezeu a chemat pe om şi i-a zis: „Unde eşti?” 10 El a răspuns: „Ţi-am auzit glasul în grădină şi mi-a fost frică(L), pentru că eram gol, şi m-am ascuns.” 11 Şi Domnul Dumnezeu a zis: „Cine ţi-a spus că eşti gol? Nu cumva ai mâncat din pomul din care îţi poruncisem să nu mănânci?” 12 Omul a răspuns: „Femeia(M) pe care mi-ai dat-o ca să fie lângă mine, ea mi-a dat din pom şi am mâncat.” 13 Şi Domnul Dumnezeu a zis femeii: „Ce ai făcut?” Femeia a răspuns: „Şarpele(N) m-a amăgit şi am mâncat din pom.” 14 Domnul Dumnezeu a zis şarpelui: „Fiindcă ai făcut lucrul acesta, blestemat eşti între toate vitele şi între toate fiarele de pe câmp; în toate zilele vieţii tale, să te târăşti pe pântece şi să mănânci ţărână(O). 15 Vrăjmăşie(P) voi pune între tine şi femeie, între sămânţa ta şi sămânţa(Q) ei(R). Aceasta(S) îţi va zdrobi capul, şi tu îi vei zdrobi călcâiul.” 16 Femeii i-a zis: „Voi mări foarte mult suferinţa şi însărcinarea ta; cu(T) durere vei naşte copii, şi dorinţele(U) tale se vor ţine după bărbatul tău, iar el va stăpâni(V) peste tine.” 17 Omului i-a zis: „Fiindcă(W) ai ascultat de glasul nevestei tale şi ai mâncat(X) din pomul despre care(Y) îţi poruncisem: ‘Să nu mănânci deloc din el’, blestemat(Z) este acum pământul din pricina ta. Cu multă trudă(AA) să-ţi scoţi hrana din el în toate zilele vieţii tale; 18 spini(AB) şi pălămidă să-ţi dea şi să mănânci(AC) iarbă de pe câmp. 19 În sudoarea(AD) feţei tale să-ţi mănânci pâinea până te vei întoarce în pământ, căci din el ai fost luat, căci ţărână(AE) eşti şi în(AF) ţărână te vei întoarce.” 20 Adam a pus nevestei sale numele Eva[c], căci ea a fost mama tuturor celor vii. 21 Domnul Dumnezeu a făcut lui Adam şi nevestei lui haine de piele şi i-a îmbrăcat cu ele. 22 Domnul Dumnezeu a zis: „Iată(AG) că omul a ajuns ca unul din Noi, cunoscând binele şi răul. Să-l împiedicăm dar acum ca nu cumva să-şi întindă mâna, să(AH) ia şi din pomul vieţii, să mănânce din el şi să trăiască în veci.” 23 De aceea, Domnul Dumnezeu l-a izgonit din grădina Edenului ca(AI) să lucreze pământul, din care fusese luat. 24 Astfel a izgonit El pe Adam, şi, la răsăritul(AJ) grădinii Edenului, a pus nişte heruvimi(AK), care să învârtească o sabie învăpăiată, ca să păzească drumul care duce la pomul vieţii.

3 Now the serpent(A) was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?(B)”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,(C) 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”(D)
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.(E) 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,(F) knowing good and evil.”
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable(G) for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband,(H) who was with her, and he ate it.(I) 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked;(J) so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.(K)
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking(L) in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid(M) from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”(N)
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid(O) because I was naked;(P) so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked?(Q) Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?(R)”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me(S)—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me,(T) and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed(U) are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust(V)
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a](W) and hers;(X)
he will crush[b] your head,(Y)
and you will strike his heel.”
16 To the woman he said,
“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to children.(Z)
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.(AA)”
17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’(AB)
“Cursed(AC) is the ground(AD) because of you;
through painful toil(AE) you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.(AF)
18 It will produce thorns and thistles(AG) for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.(AH)
19 By the sweat of your brow(AI)
you will eat your food(AJ)
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”(AK)
20 Adam[c] named his wife Eve,[d](AL) because she would become the mother of all the living.
21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.(AM) 22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us,(AN) knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life(AO) and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden(AP) to work the ground(AQ) from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side[e] of the Garden of Eden(AR) cherubim(AS) and a flaming sword(AT) flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.(AU)

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
