Genesis 24:28-49
Young's Literal Translation
28 And the young person runneth, and declareth to the house of her mother according to these words.
29 And Rebekah hath a brother, and his name [is] Laban, and Laban runneth unto the man who [is] without, unto the fountain;
30 yea, it cometh to pass, when he seeth the ring, and the bracelets on the hands of his sister, and when he heareth the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, `Thus hath the man spoken unto me,' that he cometh in unto the man, and lo, he is standing by the camels by the fountain.
31 And he saith, `Come in, O blessed one of Jehovah, why standest thou without, and I -- I have prepared the house and place for the camels!'
32 And he bringeth in the man into the house, and looseth the camels, and giveth straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the feet of the men who [are] with him:
33 and setteth before him to eat; but he saith, `I do not eat till I have spoken my word;' and he saith, `Speak.'
34 And he saith, `I [am] Abraham's servant;
35 and Jehovah hath blessed my lord exceedingly, and he is great; and He giveth to him flock, and herd, and silver, and gold, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and camels, and asses;
36 and Sarah, my lord's wife, beareth a son to my lord, after she hath been aged, and he giveth to him all that he hath.
37 `And my lord causeth me to swear, saying, Thou dost not take a wife to my son from the daughters of the Canaanite, in whose land I am dwelling.
38 If not -- unto the house of my father thou dost go, and unto my family, and thou hast taken a wife for my son.
39 `And I say unto my lord, It may be the woman doth not come after me;
40 and he saith unto me, Jehovah, before whom I have walked habitually, doth send His messenger with thee, and hath prospered thy way, and thou hast taken a wife for my son from my family, and from the house of my father;
41 then art thou acquitted from my oath, when thou comest unto my family, and if they give not [one] to thee; then thou hast been acquitted from my oath.
42 `And I come to-day unto the fountain, and I say, Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, if Thou art, I pray Thee, making prosperous my way in which I am going --
43 (lo, I am standing by the fountain of water), then the virgin who is coming out to draw, and I have said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher,
44 and she hath said unto me, Both drink thou, and also for thy camels I draw -- she is the woman whom Jehovah hath decided for my lord's son.
45 `Before I finish speaking unto my heart, then lo, Rebekah is coming out, and her pitcher on her shoulder, and she goeth down to the fountain, and draweth; and I say unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee,
46 and she hasteth and letteth down her pitcher from off her and saith, Drink, and thy camels also I water; and I drink, and the camels also she hath watered.
47 `And I ask her, and say, Whose daughter [art] thou? and she saith, Daughter of Bethuel, son of Nahor, whom Milcah hath borne to him, and I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands,
48 and I bow, and do obeisance before Jehovah, and I bless Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, who hath led me in the true way to receive the daughter of my lord's brother for his son.
49 `And now, if ye are dealing kindly and truly with my lord, declare to me; and if not, declare to me; and I turn unto the right or unto the left.'

28 Then (A)the young woman ran and told her mother’s household about these things. 29 Now Rebekah had a brother whose name was (B)Laban; and Laban ran outside to the man at the spring. 30 When he saw the ring and the bracelets on his sister’s [a]wrists, and when he heard the words of his sister Rebekah, saying, “[b]This is what the man said to me,” he went to the man; and behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring. 31 And he said, “(C)Come in, (D)blessed of the Lord! Why do you stand outside, since (E)I have prepared the house, and a place for the camels?” 32 So the man entered the house. Then [c](F)Laban unloaded the camels, and he gave straw and feed to the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him. 33 But when food was set before him to eat, he said, “I will not eat until I have stated my business.” And he said, “Speak on.” 34 So he said, “I am (G)Abraham’s servant. 35 The Lord has greatly (H)blessed my master, so that he has become [d]rich; and He has given him (I)flocks and herds, and silver and gold, and servants and slave women, and camels and donkeys. 36 Now (J)my master’s wife Sarah bore a son to my master [e]in her old age, and (K)he has given him all that he has. 37 (L)My master made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live; 38 but you shall go to my father’s house and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son.’ 39 Then (M)I said to my master, ‘Suppose the woman does not follow me.’ 40 And he said to me, ‘(N)The Lord, before whom I have (O)walked, will send (P)His angel with you to make your journey successful, and you will take a wife for my son from my relatives and from my father’s house; 41 (Q)then you will be free from my oath, when you come to my relatives; and if they do not give her to you, you will be free from my oath.’
42 “So (R)I came today to the spring, and said, ‘Lord, God of my master Abraham, if now You will make my journey on which I have been going (S)successful; 43 behold, (T)I am standing by the [f]spring, and may it be that the [g]young unmarried woman who comes out to draw water, and to whom I say, “(U)Please let me drink a little water from your jar”; 44 and she says to me, “You drink, and I will draw for your camels also”—let her be the woman whom the Lord has appointed for my master’s son.’
45 “Before I had finished (V)speaking in my heart, behold, (W)Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder, and went down to the spring and drew water, and (X)I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’ 46 She quickly lowered her jar from her shoulder, and said, ‘(Y)Drink, and I will water your camels also’; so I drank, and she watered the camels also. 47 (Z)Then I asked her, and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ And she said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him’; and I put the (AA)ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her [h]wrists. 48 And I (AB)bowed low and worshiped the Lord, and blessed the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, (AC)who had guided me in the right way to take the daughter of my master’s brother for his son. 49 So now if you are going to [i](AD)deal kindly and truthfully with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me now, so that I may turn to the right or the left.”

New International Version
28 The young woman ran and told her mother’s household about these things.(A) 29 Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban,(B) and he hurried out to the man at the spring. 30 As soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister’s arms,(C) and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring. 31 “Come, you who are blessed by the Lord,”(D) he said. “Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.”
32 So the man went to the house, and the camels were unloaded. Straw and fodder(E) were brought for the camels, and water for him and his men to wash their feet.(F) 33 Then food was set before him, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told you what I have to say.”
“Then tell us,” Laban said.
34 So he said, “I am Abraham’s servant.(G) 35 The Lord has blessed(H) my master abundantly,(I) and he has become wealthy.(J) He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.(K) 36 My master’s wife Sarah has borne him a son in her old age,(L) and he has given him everything he owns.(M) 37 And my master made me swear an oath,(N) and said, ‘You must not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,(O) 38 but go to my father’s family and to my own clan, and get a wife for my son.’(P)
39 “Then I asked my master, ‘What if the woman will not come back with me?’(Q)
40 “He replied, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked faithfully,(R) will send his angel with you(S) and make your journey a success,(T) so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my father’s family.(U) 41 You will be released from my oath if, when you go to my clan, they refuse to give her to you—then you will be released from my oath.’(V)
42 “When I came to the spring today, I said, ‘Lord, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success(W) to the journey on which I have come. 43 See, I am standing beside this spring.(X) If a young woman(Y) comes out to draw water and I say to her, “Please let me drink a little water from your jar,”(Z) 44 and if she says to me, “Drink, and I’ll draw water for your camels too,” let her be the one the Lord has chosen for my master’s son.’(AA)
45 “Before I finished praying in my heart,(AB) Rebekah came out, with her jar on her shoulder.(AC) She went down to the spring and drew water, and I said to her, ‘Please give me a drink.’(AD)
46 “She quickly lowered her jar from her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too.’(AE) So I drank, and she watered the camels also.(AF)
47 “I asked her, ‘Whose daughter are you?’(AG)
“She said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel(AH) son of Nahor, whom Milkah bore to him.’(AI)
“Then I put the ring in her nose(AJ) and the bracelets on her arms,(AK) 48 and I bowed down and worshiped the Lord.(AL) I praised the Lord, the God of my master Abraham,(AM) who had led me on the right road to get the granddaughter of my master’s brother for his son.(AN) 49 Now if you will show kindness and faithfulness(AO) to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, so I may know which way to turn.”
