21 Toen liet de Here God Adam in een diepe slaap vallen, nam een rib uit zijn lichaam en sloot de plaats waaruit Hij de rib had genomen. 22 Uit die rib maakte Hij een vrouw en Hij bracht haar bij de mens. 23 ‘Ja, dit is wat ik nodig had!’ riep Adam uit, ‘zij is echt een deel van mijn lichaam. Ik zal haar mannin noemen, omdat zij is genomen uit de man.’

English Standard Version
21 So the Lord God caused a (A)deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made[a] into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,
“This at last is (B)bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was (C)taken out of Man.”[b]
