²⁴ Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of ^(A)Terah; ²⁵ and Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years after he became the father of Terah, and he had other sons and daughters.

²⁶ Terah lived seventy years, and became ^(B)the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.

²⁷ Now these are the records of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran; and ^(C)Haran became the father of ^(D)Lot. ²⁸ Haran died ^[a]in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his birth, in ^(E)Ur of the Chaldeans. ²⁹ Abram and ^(F)Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was ^(G)Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife was ^(H)Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah ^[b]and Iscah.

²⁰ Now it came about after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, “Behold, ^(A)Milcah ^[a]also has borne children to your brother Nahor: ²¹ Uz his firstborn and Buz his brother and Kemuel the father of Aram ²² and Chesed and Hazo and Pildash and Jidlaph and Bethuel.” ²³ Bethuel ^[b]became the father of ^(B)Rebekah; these eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.

Rebekah Is Chosen

^15 (A)Before he had finished speaking, behold, ^(B)Rebekah who was born to Bethuel the son of ^(C)Milcah, the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor, came out with her jar on her shoulder.

²⁹ Now Rebekah had a brother whose name was ^(A)Laban; and Laban ran outside to the man at the spring.
