¹⁰ Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the ^[a](A)valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before the Lord ^(B)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like ^(C)the garden of the Lord, ^(D)like the land of Egypt as you go to ^(E)Zoar.

¹² They also took Lot, ^(A)Abram’s nephew, and his possessions and departed, ^(B)for he was living in Sodom.

The Doom of Sodom

19 Now the ^(A)two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When ^(B)Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and ^[a]bowed down with his face to the ground.

²⁹ Thus it came about, when God destroyed the cities of the ^[a]valley, that ^(A)God remembered Abraham, and ^(B)sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.
