Joseph Reveals Himself to His Brothers
45 Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all those who stood by him, and he cried out, “Send everyone away from me.” So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. 2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it. 3 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?” But his brothers could not answer him, so dismayed were they at his presence.
4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me.” And they came closer. He said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. 5 And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. 6 For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. 7 God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. 8 So it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt. 9 Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay. 10 You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children, as well as your flocks, your herds, and all that you have. 11 I will provide for you there—since there are five more years of famine to come—so that you and your household, and all that you have, will not come to poverty.’ 12 And now your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my own mouth that speaks to you. 13 You must tell my father how greatly I am honored in Egypt, and all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here.” 14 Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck and wept, while Benjamin wept upon his neck. 15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them; and after that his brothers talked with him.
16 When the report was heard in Pharaoh’s house, “Joseph’s brothers have come,” Pharaoh and his servants were pleased. 17 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: load your animals and go back to the land of Canaan. 18 Take your father and your households and come to me, so that I may give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you may enjoy the fat of the land.’ 19 You are further charged to say, ‘Do this: take wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. 20 Give no thought to your possessions, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’”
21 The sons of Israel did so. Joseph gave them wagons according to the instruction of Pharaoh, and he gave them provisions for the journey. 22 To each one of them he gave a set of garments; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five sets of garments. 23 To his father he sent the following: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain, bread, and provision for his father on the journey. 24 Then he sent his brothers on their way, and as they were leaving he said to them, “Do not quarrel[a] along the way.”
25 So they went up out of Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan. 26 And they told him, “Joseph is still alive! He is even ruler over all the land of Egypt.” He was stunned; he could not believe them. 27 But when they told him all the words of Joseph that he had said to them, and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. 28 Israel said, “Enough! My son Joseph is still alive. I must go and see him before I die.”

Egli mi ha stabilito come padre[a] del faraone, signore di tutta la sua casa e governatore di tutto il paese d’Egitto. 9 Affrettatevi a risalire da mio padre e ditegli: “Così dice tuo figlio Giuseppe: ‘Dio mi ha stabilito signore di tutto l’Egitto; scendi da me, non tardare. 10 Tu abiterai nel paese di Goscen[b] e sarai vicino a me: tu e i tuoi figli, i figli dei tuoi figli, le tue greggi, i tuoi armenti e tutto quello che possiedi. 11 Qui io ti sostenterò (perché ci saranno ancora cinque anni di carestia), affinché tu non sia ridotto in miseria: tu, la tua famiglia e tutto quello che possiedi’”. 12 Ecco, voi vedete con i vostri occhi, e mio fratello Beniamino vede con i suoi occhi, che è proprio la mia bocca quella che vi parla. 13 Raccontate dunque a mio padre tutta la mia gloria in Egitto e tutto quello che avete visto; e fate che mio padre scenda presto qua».
14 Poi si gettò al collo di Beniamino, suo fratello, e pianse; e Beniamino pianse sul collo di lui. 15 Baciò pure tutti i suoi fratelli, piangendo. Dopo questo, i suoi fratelli si misero a parlare con lui.
16 (B)Intanto la voce si diffuse nella casa del faraone, e si disse: «Sono arrivati i fratelli di Giuseppe». Questo piacque al faraone e ai suoi servitori. 17 Il faraone disse a Giuseppe: «Di’ ai tuoi fratelli: “Fate questo: caricate le vostre bestie e andate, tornate al paese di Canaan; 18 prendete vostro padre, le vostre famiglie e venite da me; io vi darò il meglio del paese d’Egitto e voi mangerete il grasso della terra”. 19 Tu hai l’ordine di dire loro: “Fate questo: prendete nel paese d’Egitto dei carri per i vostri bambini e per le vostre mogli; conducete vostro padre e venite. 20 E non vi rincresca di lasciare la vostra roba, perché il meglio di tutto il paese d’Egitto sarà vostro”».
21 I figli d’Israele fecero così e Giuseppe diede loro dei carri, secondo l’ordine del faraone, e diede loro delle provviste per il viaggio. 22 Diede un abito di ricambio per ciascuno, ma a Beniamino diede trecento sicli d’argento e cinque mute di vestiti; 23 a suo padre mandò questo: dieci asini carichi delle migliori cose d’Egitto, dieci asine cariche di grano, di pane e di viveri per suo padre durante il viaggio. 24 Così congedò i suoi fratelli e questi partirono; ed egli disse loro: «Non ci siano, durante il viaggio, delle liti tra di voi».
25 Essi risalirono dall’Egitto e giunsero nel paese di Canaan, da Giacobbe loro padre. 26 Gli riferirono ogni cosa, dicendo: «Giuseppe vive ancora ed è governatore di tutto il paese d’Egitto». Ma il suo cuore rimase freddo, perché egli non credeva loro. 27 Essi gli ripeterono tutte le parole che Giuseppe aveva dette loro. 45 Da konnte sich Joseph nicht länger bezwingen vor allen, die um ihn herstanden, und er rief: Lasst jedermann von mir hinausgehen! Und es stand kein Mensch bei ihm, als Joseph sich seinen Brüdern zu erkennen gab.
2 Und er weinte laut, sodass die Ägypter und das Haus des Pharao es hörten.
3 Und Joseph sprach zu seinen Brüdern: Ich bin Joseph! Lebt mein Vater noch? Aber seine Brüder konnten ihm nicht antworten, so bestürzt waren sie vor ihm.
4 Da sprach Joseph zu seinen Brüdern: Tretet doch her zu mir! Als sie nun näher kamen, sprach er zu ihnen: Ich bin Joseph, euer Bruder, den ihr nach Ägypten verkauft habt!
5 Und nun bekümmert euch nicht und macht euch keine Vorwürfe darüber, dass ihr mich hierher verkauft habt; denn zur Lebensrettung hat mich Gott vor euch hergesandt!
6 Denn dies ist das zweite Jahr, dass die Hungersnot im Land herrscht, und es werden noch fünf Jahre ohne Pflügen und Ernten sein.
7 Aber Gott hat mich vor euch hergesandt, um euch einen Überrest zu sichern auf Erden, und um euch am Leben zu erhalten zu einer großen Errettung.
8 Und nun, nicht ihr habt mich hierher gesandt, sondern Gott: Er hat mich dem Pharao zum Vater gesetzt und zum Herrn über sein ganzes Haus und zum Herrscher über das ganze Land Ägypten.
9 Zieht nun schnell zu meinem Vater hinauf und sagt ihm: So spricht dein Sohn Joseph: Gott hat mich zum Herrn über ganz Ägypten gesetzt; komm zu mir herab, zögere nicht!
10 Und du sollst im Land Gosen wohnen und nahe bei mir sein, du und deine Kinder und deine Kindeskinder, deine Schafe und deine Rinder und alles, was dir gehört!
11 Ich will dich dort mit Nahrung versorgen — denn es sind noch fünf Jahre Hungersnot —, damit du nicht verarmst, du und dein Haus und alles, was dir gehört!
12 Und siehe, eure Augen sehen es und die Augen meines Bruders Benjamin, dass mein Mund es ist, der zu euch redet.
13 Darum verkündet meinem Vater all meine Herrlichkeit in Ägypten und alles, was ihr gesehen habt, und bringt meinen Vater schnell hierher!
14 Und er fiel seinem Bruder Benjamin um den Hals und weinte, und Benjamin weinte auch an seinem Hals.
15 Und er küsste alle seine Brüder und umarmte sie unter Tränen, und danach redeten seine Brüder mit ihm.
16 Als man nun im Haus des Pharao die Nachricht vernahm: Josephs Brüder sind gekommen!, da gefiel dies dem Pharao und seinen Knechten gut.
17 Und der Pharao sprach zu Joseph: Sage deinen Brüdern: Tut das: Beladet eure Tiere und macht euch auf den Weg, zieht in das Land Kanaan;
18 und nehmt euren Vater und eure Familien und kommt zu mir, so will ich euch das Beste des Landes Ägypten geben, und ihr sollt das Fett des Landes essen!
19 Und du, ordne dies an: Ihr sollt so handeln: Nehmt euch Wagen mit aus dem Land Ägypten für eure Kinder und Frauen und bringt euren Vater mit und kommt;
20 und euer Hausrat darf euch nicht reuen; denn das Beste des ganzen Landes Ägypten soll euch gehören!
21 Da machten es die Söhne Israels so; und Joseph gab ihnen Wagen nach dem Befehl des Pharao, auch gab er ihnen Verpflegung auf den Weg.
22 Und er schenkte ihnen allen Festgewänder, jedem Einzelnen; Benjamin aber schenkte er 300 Silberlinge und fünf Festgewänder.
23 Und seinem Vater sandte er Folgendes: zehn Esel, beladen mit dem Besten Ägyptens, und zehn Eselinnen, die Korn, Brot und Speise trugen für seinen Vater auf den Weg.
24 Damit entließ er seine Brüder, und sie gingen, und er sprach zu ihnen: Streitet nicht auf dem Weg!
25 So reisten sie von Ägypten hinauf und kamen in das Land Kanaan zu ihrem Vater Jakob;
26 und sie berichteten ihm und sprachen: Joseph lebt noch und ist Herrscher über das ganze Land Ägypten! Aber sein Herz blieb kalt, denn er glaubte ihnen nicht.
27 Da sagten sie ihm alle Worte, die Joseph zu ihnen geredet hatte. Und als er die Wagen sah, die Joseph gesandt hatte, um ihn abzuholen, da wurde der Geist ihres Vaters Jakob lebendig,
28 und Israel sprach: Für mich ist es genug, dass mein Sohn Joseph noch lebt! Ich will hingehen und ihn sehen, bevor ich sterbe!

45 Ekkor József már nem tudott tovább uralkodni magán az ott álló sok ember előtt, és felkiáltott: Küldjetek ki előlem mindenkit! Nem is maradt senki nála, és ekkor József megismertette magát a testvéreivel.
2 Hangos sírásra fakadt, úgyhogy meghallották az egyiptomiak, és így hallottak róla a fáraó házában is.
3 Majd ezt mondta József a testvéreinek: Én vagyok József! Él-e még az én apám? De a testvérek nem tudtak válaszolni, mert megrémültek tőle.
4 József ezt mondta testvéreinek: Jöjjetek közelebb hozzám! Ők közelebb mentek. Ekkor így szólt: Én vagyok József, a testvéretek, akit eladtatok Egyiptomba!
5 De most ne bánkódjatok, és ne keseregjetek amiatt, hogy engem ide eladtatok, mert azért küldött el engem Isten előttetek, hogy életben maradjatok.
6 Mert már két esztendeje tart az éhínség a földön, és még öt esztendeig nem lesz sem szántás, sem aratás.
7 Isten küldött el engem előttetek, hogy maradékotok legyen a földön, és életben tartson benneteket nagy szabadítással.
8 Tehát nem ti küldtetek ide, hanem Isten, aki engem a fáraó első emberévé, egész házának urává és egész Egyiptom uralkodójává tett.
9 Sietve menjetek el apámhoz, és mondjátok meg neki: Ezt üzeni a fiad, József: Isten egész Egyiptom urává tett engem. Jöjj el hozzám, ne tétovázz!

A fáraó Egyiptomba hívja Jákóbot és fiait
16 A fáraó házában meghallották a hírt, hogy megjöttek József testvérei. Tetszett ez a fáraónak és szolgáinak.
17 Ezt mondta a fáraó Józsefnek: Mondd meg testvéreidnek: Ezt cselekedjétek: Rakjátok meg állataitokat, eredjetek, menjetek el Kánaán földjére!
18 Azután vegyétek magatokhoz apátokat, házatok népét, és jöjjetek hozzám; én pedig nektek adom Egyiptom földjének a legjavát, és a legzsírosabb földön élhettek.
19 Parancsold meg nekik: Ezt cselekedjétek: Vigyetek magatokkal szekereket Egyiptomból gyermekeitek és feleségeitek számára, hozzátok magatokkal apátokat, és jöjjetek ide!
20 Ne sajnáljátok a holmitokat, mert Egyiptom egész földjének a legjava lesz a tiétek!
21 Így cselekedtek Izráel fiai. József adott nekik szekereket a fáraó parancsa szerint, és adott nekik útravalót.

Joseph révèle son identité à ses frères
45 Alors Joseph, ne pouvant plus dominer son émotion devant tous ceux qui étaient présents, s’écria : Faites sortir tout le monde !
Ainsi personne de son entourage n’était en sa présence lorsqu’il fit connaître son identité à ses frères[a]. 2 Mais il sanglotait si fort en parlant que les Egyptiens l’entendirent, et la nouvelle parvint jusqu’au palais du pharaon. 3 Il dit à ses frères : Je suis Joseph ! Mon père est-il encore en vie ?
Mais ses frères étaient incapables de lui répondre tant ils avaient peur de lui. 4 Alors Joseph leur dit : Venez près de moi !
Ils s’approchèrent.
– Je suis Joseph, leur dit-il, votre frère, que vous avez vendu pour être emmené en Egypte. 5 Et maintenant, ne vous tourmentez pas et ne soyez pas fâchés de m’avoir vendu comme esclave. C’est pour vous sauver la vie que Dieu m’a envoyé devant vous. 6 Car voici deux ans que la famine sévit dans ce pays et pendant cinq ans encore, il n’y aura ni labour ni moisson. 7 Dieu m’a envoyé devant vous pour vous faire subsister sur la terre, pour préserver votre vie par une très grande délivrance. 8 C’est pourquoi ce n’est pas vous qui m’avez envoyé ici, c’est Dieu. Et il m’a élevé au rang de « Père pour le pharaon[b] », faisant de moi le maître de toute sa cour et le dirigeant de toute l’Egypte. 9 Retournez donc au plus vite auprès de mon père et dites-lui : « Ton fils Joseph te fait dire ceci : Dieu m’a établi maître de toute l’Egypte ; viens auprès de moi sans tarder. 10 Tu habiteras dans la région de Goshen[c], pour être proche de moi, toi, tes enfants et tes petits-enfants, tes moutons, tes chèvres et tes bovins, tout ce qui t’appartient. 11 Et là, je pourvoirai à tes besoins pour que tu ne restes pas sans ressources, toi, ta famille et tout ce qui t’appartient. Car il y aura encore cinq ans de famine[d]. » 12 Vous voyez de vos yeux, et mon frère Benjamin également, que c’est bien moi qui vous parle. 13 Informez mon père de tous les honneurs dont je suis comblé en Egypte, racontez-lui tout ce que vous avez vu et dépêchez-vous de le faire venir ici.
14 Puis il se jeta au cou de Benjamin, son frère, et tous deux pleurèrent sur les épaules l’un de l’autre. 15 Ensuite, il embrassa tous ses frères en pleurant. Après quoi, ses frères s’entretinrent avec lui.
Le pharaon invite Jacob en Egypte
16 La nouvelle de l’arrivée des frères de Joseph se répandit aussitôt au palais du pharaon. Elle fit plaisir au pharaon et à ses hauts fonctionnaires. 17 Le pharaon dit à Joseph : Tu diras à tes frères : « Voilà ce que vous allez faire : Chargez vos bêtes et retournez au pays de Canaan, 18 pour aller y chercher votre père ainsi que vos familles. Puis vous reviendrez chez moi et je vous donnerai les bonnes terres d’Egypte et vous mangerez les meilleurs produits du pays. » 19 Quant à toi, transmets-leur l’ordre suivant : « Emmenez avec vous d’Egypte des chariots pour vos enfants et vos femmes, faites-y monter aussi votre père et revenez. 20 N’ayez pas de regret pour ce que vous laisserez, car ce qu’il y a de meilleur dans toute l’Egypte sera à votre disposition. »
21 Les fils d’Israël firent ce qu’on leur avait dit. Joseph leur procura des chariots, selon ce qu’avait déclaré le pharaon, et il leur donna des provisions pour le voyage. 22 Il offrit un habit de rechange à chacun de ses frères ; quant à Benjamin, il lui donna trois cents pièces d’argent et cinq habits de rechange. 23 Il envoya à son père dix ânes chargés des meilleurs produits de l’Egypte, et dix ânesses chargées de blé, de pain et de vivres pour son voyage. 24 Il prit congé de ses frères en leur recommandant de ne pas se disputer[e] en chemin. Et ils s’en allèrent.
Les frères de Joseph reviennent auprès de Jacob
25 Ils retournèrent donc d’Egypte au pays de Canaan auprès de Jacob, leur père. 26 Ils lui annoncèrent la nouvelle : « Joseph vit encore, et c’est même lui qui gouverne toute l’Egypte. » Mais il ne réagit pas parce qu’il ne les croyait pas. 27 Ils lui répétèrent tout ce que Joseph avait dit. Puis Jacob vit les chariots que Joseph avait envoyés pour le transporter. Alors il reprit vie. 28 Israël déclara : Assez parlé : Joseph mon fils est encore en vie, j’irai le voir avant de mourir.
