³⁰ Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have ^(A)brought trouble on me by ^(B)making me odious among the inhabitants of the land, among ^(C)the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and ^[a](D)my men being few in number, they will gather together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my household.”

^21 (A)And they said to them, “^(B)May Yahweh look upon you and judge, for you have ^(C)made ^[a]us a foul smell in Pharaoh’s sight and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us.”

⁶ Then the sons of Ammon saw that ^(A)they had become odious to David. So the sons of Ammon sent and ^(B)hired the Arameans of ^(C)Beth-rehob and the ^(D)Arameans of Zobah, 20,000 foot soldiers, and the king of ^(E)Maacah with 1,000 men, and the men of Tob with 12,000 men.
