I. LE ORIGINI DEL MONDO E DELL'UMANITA'
1. LA CREAZIONE E LA CADUTA
Primo racconto della creazione
1 In principio Dio creò il cielo e la terra. 2 Ora la terra era informe e deserta e le tenebre ricoprivano l'abisso e lo spirito di Dio aleggiava sulle acque.
3 Dio disse: «Sia la luce!». E la luce fu. 4 Dio vide che la luce era cosa buona e separò la luce dalle tenebre 5 e chiamò la luce giorno e le tenebre notte. E fu sera e fu mattina: primo giorno.
6 Dio disse: «Sia il firmamento in mezzo alle acque per separare le acque dalle acque». 7 Dio fece il firmamento e separò le acque, che sono sotto il firmamento, dalle acque, che son sopra il firmamento. E così avvenne. 8 Dio chiamò il firmamento cielo. E fu sera e fu mattina: secondo giorno.
9 Dio disse: «Le acque che sono sotto il cielo, si raccolgano in un solo luogo e appaia l'asciutto». E così avvenne. 10 Dio chiamò l'asciutto terra e la massa delle acque mare. E Dio vide che era cosa buona. 11 E Dio disse: «La terra produca germogli, erbe che producono seme e alberi da frutto, che facciano sulla terra frutto con il seme, ciascuno secondo la sua specie». E così avvenne: 12 la terra produsse germogli, erbe che producono seme, ciascuna secondo la propria specie e alberi che fanno ciascuno frutto con il seme, secondo la propria specie. Dio vide che era cosa buona. 13 E fu sera e fu mattina: terzo giorno.
14 Dio disse: «Ci siano luci nel firmamento del cielo, per distinguere il giorno dalla notte; servano da segni per le stagioni, per i giorni e per gli anni 15 e servano da luci nel firmamento del cielo per illuminare la terra». E così avvenne: 16 Dio fece le due luci grandi, la luce maggiore per regolare il giorno e la luce minore per regolare la notte, e le stelle. 17 Dio le pose nel firmamento del cielo per illuminare la terra 18 e per regolare giorno e notte e per separare la luce dalle tenebre. E Dio vide che era cosa buona. 19 E fu sera e fu mattina: quarto giorno.
20 Dio disse: «Le acque brulichino di esseri viventi e uccelli volino sopra la terra, davanti al firmamento del cielo». 21 Dio creò i grandi mostri marini e tutti gli esseri viventi che guizzano e brulicano nelle acque, secondo la loro specie, e tutti gli uccelli alati secondo la loro specie. E Dio vide che era cosa buona. 22 Dio li benedisse: «Siate fecondi e moltiplicatevi e riempite le acque dei mari; gli uccelli si moltiplichino sulla terra». 23 E fu sera e fu mattina: quinto giorno.
24 Dio disse: «La terra produca esseri viventi secondo la loro specie: bestiame, rettili e bestie selvatiche secondo la loro specie». E così avvenne: 25 Dio fece le bestie selvatiche secondo la loro specie e il bestiame secondo la propria specie e tutti i rettili del suolo secondo la loro specie. E Dio vide che era cosa buona. 26 E Dio disse: «Facciamo l'uomo a nostra immagine, a nostra somiglianza, e domini sui pesci del mare e sugli uccelli del cielo, sul bestiame, su tutte le bestie selvatiche e su tutti i rettili che strisciano sulla terra».
27 Dio creò l'uomo a sua immagine;
a immagine di Dio lo creò;
maschio e femmina li creò.
28 Dio li benedisse e disse loro:
«Siate fecondi e moltiplicatevi,
riempite la terra;
soggiogatela e dominate
sui pesci del mare
e sugli uccelli del cielo
e su ogni essere vivente,
che striscia sulla terra».
29 Poi Dio disse: «Ecco, io vi do ogni erba che produce seme e che è su tutta la terra e ogni albero in cui è il frutto, che produce seme: saranno il vostro cibo. 30 A tutte le bestie selvatiche, a tutti gli uccelli del cielo e a tutti gli esseri che strisciano sulla terra e nei quali è alito di vita, io do in cibo ogni erba verde». E così avvenne. 31 Dio vide quanto aveva fatto, ed ecco, era cosa molto buona. E fu sera e fu mattina: sesto giorno.

Primer relato de la creación (1,1—2,4a)
1 Cuando Dios, en el principio,
creó los cielos y la tierra,
2 la tierra era una masa caótica
y las tinieblas cubrían el abismo,
mientras un viento impetuoso
sacudía la superficie de las aguas.
3 Entonces dijo Dios:
— ¡Que exista la luz!
Y la luz existió.
4 Al ver Dios que la luz era buena,
la separó de las tinieblas,
5 llamando a la luz “día”
y a las tinieblas, “noche”.
Vino la noche, llegó la mañana:
ese fue el primer día.
6 Y dijo Dios:
— ¡Que exista el firmamento
y separe unas aguas de otras!
7 Y así sucedió.
Hizo Dios el firmamento
y separó las aguas que están abajo,
de las aguas que están arriba.
8 Y Dios llamó “cielo” al firmamento.
Vino la noche, llegó la mañana:
ese fue el segundo día.
9 Y dijo Dios:
— ¡Que las aguas debajo del cielo
se reúnan en un solo lugar,
para que aparezca lo seco!
Y así sucedió.
10 Dios llamó “tierra” a lo seco
y al conjunto de aguas lo llamó “mar”.
Y vio Dios que esto era bueno.
11 Y dijo Dios:
— ¡Que la tierra se cubra de vegetación;
que esta produzca plantas con semilla,
y árboles que den fruto con semilla,
cada uno según su especie!
Y así sucedió.
12 Brotó de la tierra vegetación:
plantas con semilla
y árboles con su fruto y su semilla,
todos según su especie.
Y vio Dios que esto era bueno.
13 Vino la noche, llegó la mañana:
ese fue el tercer día.
14 Y dijo Dios:
— ¡Que haya lumbreras en el firmamento
para separar el día de la noche,
para distinguir las estaciones,
y señalar los días y los años;
15 para que luzcan en el firmamento
y así alumbrar la tierra!
Y sucedió así.
16 Hizo Dios los dos grandes astros:
el astro mayor para regir el día,
y el menor para regir la noche.
También hizo las estrellas.
17 Dios puso en el firmamento
astros que alumbraran la tierra:
18 los hizo para regir el día y la noche,
para separar la luz de las tinieblas.
Y vio Dios que esto era bueno.
19 Vino la noche, llegó la mañana:
ese fue el cuarto día.
20 Y dijo Dios:
— ¡Rebosen las aguas de seres vivos,
y que las aves vuelen sobre la tierra
a lo ancho de todo el firmamento!
21 Y creó Dios los grandes animales marinos,
y todos los seres vivientes
que se mueven y pululan en las aguas;
y creó también todas las aves,
todas según su especie.
Vio Dios que esto era bueno,
22 y los bendijo con estas palabras:
“Sean fecundos y multiplíquense;
llenen las aguas de los mares
y que igualmente las aves
se multipliquen sobre la tierra”.
23 Vino la noche, llegó la mañana:
ese fue el quinto día.
24 Y dijo Dios:
— Que produzca la tierra seres vivientes:
animales domésticos, reptiles
y animales salvajes, todos por especies.
Y sucedió así.
25 Dios hizo los animales salvajes,
los animales domésticos
y todos los reptiles del campo,
cada uno según su especie.
Vio Dios que esto era bueno.
26 Dijo entonces Dios:
— Hagamos al ser humano
a nuestra imagen y semejanza
para que domine sobre los peces del mar
y sobre las aves del cielo;
sobre los animales domésticos,
sobre los animales salvajes
y sobre todos los reptiles
que se arrastran por el suelo.
27 Y creó Dios al ser humano a su imagen;
a imagen de Dios lo creó;
hombre y mujerlos creó.
28 Y los bendijo Dios diciéndoles:
“Sean fecundos y multiplíquense;
llenen la tierra y sométanla;
dominen sobre los peces del mar,
sobre las aves del cielo
y sobre todos los reptiles
que se arrastran por el suelo”.
29 Les dijo también:
“Les confío todas las plantas
que en la tierra engendran semilla,
y todos los árboles con su fruto y su semilla;
ellos les servirán de alimento”.
30 A todos los animales de la tierra,
y a todas las aves del cielo,
y a todos los seres vivientes
que se arrastran por la tierra,
la hierba verde les servirá de alimento.
Y así sucedió.
31 Y vio Dios todo lo que había hecho,
y todo era muy bueno.

1 Kezdetben teremtette Isten az eget, a földet és mindent, ami égen-földön létezik. 2 A föld kaotikus, lakatlan és üres volt, a mélységet sötétség borította be. De Isten Szelleme ott lebegett[a] a mélységes vizek fölött.
Első nap
3 Parancsolt Isten: „Legyen világosság!” — és fölragyogott a világosság.
4 Akkor Isten megvizsgálta a világosságot, és örömét lelte benne.[b] Majd elválasztotta a világosságot a sötétségtől. 5 Azután elnevezte a világosságot nappalnak, a sötétséget pedig éjszakának. Majd leszállt az este, azután felvirradt a reggel — ez volt az első nap.[c]
Második nap
6 Azután ismét parancsolt Isten: „Legyen boltozat[d] a vizek között, hogy elválassza a vizeket egymástól!”
7 Így teremtette Isten a boltozatot, amely elválasztotta a boltozat alatti vizeket a boltozat fölötti vizektől — és úgy is lett.
8 Majd elnevezte a boltozatot égnek. Leszállt az este, azután felvirradt a reggel — ez volt a második nap.
Harmadik nap
9 Azután ismét parancsolt Isten: „Gyűljön össze az ég alatt minden víz egy helyre, és váljon láthatóvá a szárazföld!”[e] — és úgy is lett.
10 Majd elnevezte a szilárd alapzatot szárazföldnek, az összegyűlt vizet pedig tengernek. Akkor Isten megvizsgálta, amit alkotott, és örömét lelte benne.
11 Azután ismét parancsolt Isten: „Sarjadjon ki a földből mindenféle zöldellő növény: magot termő lágyszárú növények és gyümölcsfák, amelyek termésében szintén mag van!” — és úgy is lett. 12 A földből kihajtott mindenféle zöldellő növény: magot termő lágyszárú növények és gyümölcsfák, amelyek termésében szintén mag van. Akkor Isten megvizsgálta, amit alkotott, és örömét lelte benne. 13 Majd leszállt az este, azután felvirradt a reggel — ez volt a harmadik nap.
Negyedik nap
14 Azután ismét parancsolt Isten: „Legyenek világító égitestek az ég boltozatán! Válasszák el a nappalt az éjszakától, szolgáljanak jelekül, és mutassák meg a kijelölt időket[f], napokat és éveket! 15 Ragyogjanak az ég boltozatán, és világítsák meg a földet!” — és úgy is lett. 16 Így alkotta Isten a két nagy világító égitestet: az erősebb fényűt, hogy nappal uralkodjon, és a gyengébb fényűt, hogy éjjel uralkodjon. Megalkotta a csillagokat is. 17 Isten helyezte ezeket az ég boltozatára, hogy világítsanak a földre, 18 hogy uralkodjanak nappal és éjjel, és hogy válasszák el a világosságot a sötétségtől. Akkor Isten megvizsgálta, amit alkotott, és örömét lelte benne. 19 Majd leszállt az este, azután felvirradt a reggel — ez volt a negyedik nap.
Ötödik nap
20 Azután ismét parancsolt Isten: „Mindenfajta vízi élőlény nyüzsögjön a vizekben! A föld felett, az ég boltozatán repdessenek szárnyas élőlények!” 21 Így teremtette Isten a nagy víziállatokat és mindenféle egyéb vízi élőlényt, amelyek élnek, mozognak, és tömegesen nyüzsögnek a vízben. Teremtett mindenféle repülő szárnyas állatot is. Akkor Isten megvizsgálta, amit teremtett, és örömét lelte benne. 22 Majd megáldotta őket: „Legyetek termékenyek, szaporodjatok, sokasodjatok, és népesítsétek be a tenger vizét! A szárnyas állatok is sokasodjanak, és terjedjenek el a földön!” 23 Majd leszállt az este, azután felvirradt a reggel — ez volt az ötödik nap.
Hatodik nap
24 Azután ismét parancsolt Isten: „Hozzon elő a föld mindenfajta szárazföldi állatot[g]: háziállatokat, kisebb és nagyobb vadállatokat!” — és úgy is lett. 25 Így alkotott Isten mindenféle nagyobb vadállatot, háziállatot és kisebb állatot. Akkor Isten megvizsgálta, amit alkotott, és örömét lelte benne.
26 Szólt Isten: „Alkossunk embert[h], aki hasonló hozzánk, és olyan, mint mi. Uralkodjon a tenger halain, az ég madarain és a háziállatokon. Uralkodjon az egész földön[i] és a kisebb állatokon, amelyek a földön mozognak!” 27 Megteremtette hát Isten az embert, aki hasonlít hozzá. Úgy teremtette, hogy olyan legyen, mint ő. Férfinak és nőnek teremtette őket. 28 Azután megáldotta őket:
„Legyetek termékenyek,
szaporodjatok, sokasodjatok,
népesítsétek be a földet,
és vegyétek birtokba!
Uralkodjatok a tenger halain, az ég madarain
és a többi állatokon,
amelyek a földön élnek és mozognak.”
29 Még azt is mondta nekik Isten: „Nézzétek! Nektek adok az egész földön minden magot termő növényt és minden gyümölcsfát, amelynek termésében mag van — ezek fognak táplálni benneteket. 30 A föld összes állatainak pedig a zöldellő növényeket adom táplálékul. A mezei vadaknak, az égi madaraknak, és minden egyéb szárazföldi állatnak, amelyben az élet lehelete van, odaadtam a föld összes zöld növényét, hogy azt egyék.” 31 Akkor Isten megvizsgált mindent, amit létrehozott, és nagyon jónak találta. Majd leszállt az este, azután felvirradt a reggel — ez volt a hatodik nap.

1 In the beginning(A) God created(B) the heavens(C) and the earth.(D) 2 Now the earth was formless(E) and empty,(F) darkness was over the surface of the deep,(G) and the Spirit of God(H) was hovering(I) over the waters.
3 And God said,(J) “Let there be light,” and there was light.(K) 4 God saw that the light was good,(L) and he separated the light from the darkness.(M) 5 God called(N) the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”(O) And there was evening, and there was morning(P)—the first day.
6 And God said,(Q) “Let there be a vault(R) between the waters(S) to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it.(T) And it was so.(U) 8 God called(V) the vault “sky.”(W) And there was evening, and there was morning(X)—the second day.

26 Then God said, “Let us(BO) make mankind(BP) in our image,(BQ) in our likeness,(BR) so that they may rule(BS) over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,(BT) over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created(BU) mankind(BV) in his own image,(BW)
in the image of God(BX) he created them;
male and female(BY) he created them.(BZ)
28 God blessed them and said to them,(CA) “Be fruitful and increase in number;(CB) fill the earth(CC) and subdue it. Rule over(CD) the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.(CE)”
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.(CF) 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life(CG) in it—I give every green plant for food.(CH)” And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made,(CI) and it was very good.(CJ) And there was evening, and there was morning(CK)—the sixth day.

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
