神の祝福と契約
9 神は、ノアと息子たちを祝福しました。そして、子どもがたくさん生まれ、全地に増え広がるようにと命じたのです。 2-3 「野の獣と鳥と魚はみな、あなたたちを恐れるようになるだろう。あなたたちは動物を治めなさい。穀物と野菜のほかに動物も食用として与えよう。 4 しかし、いのちの源である血をすっかり抜き取ったあとでなければ、食べてはならない。 5-6 人のいのちを奪うことは禁じる。人を殺した動物は生かしておいてはならない。人のいのちを奪う者には、同じくいのちが求められる。人殺しは、神に似せて造られた者を殺すことになるからだ。 7 子どもをたくさん産みなさい。どんどん増え広がって、世界を治めなさい。」
8 それから神は、ノアと息子たちに約束しました。 9-11 「あなたたちとあなたたちの子孫、生き残った鳥、家畜、野生の動物すべてに、わたしはおごそかに誓う。もう二度と洪水で世界を滅ぼしたりはしない。 12 その約束のしるしに、 13 雲の中に虹をかけよう。この約束は、あなたたちと全世界に対し、この世の終わりまで効力を持つ。 14 雲が大地を覆う時、虹が雲の中に輝くだろう。 15 その時わたしは、いのちあるものを二度と洪水で滅ぼさないと、堅く約束したことを思い出そう。 16-17 雲間にかかる虹が、地上のすべての生き物に対する永遠の約束を思い出させるからだ。」
ノアの息子たち
18 ノアの三人の息子はセム、ハム、ヤペテで、このうちハムがカナン人の先祖に当たります。 19 この三人から世界のあらゆる国民が出たのです。
20-21 さて、ノアは農夫となり、ぶどうを栽培してぶどう酒を作るようになりました。ある日、彼はぶどう酒に酔って前後不覚になり、裸のままテントの中で寝入ってしまいました。 22 その醜態を見たハムはあわてて外に飛び出し、二人の兄に、父親が裸で寝ていることを話しました。 23 話を聞いたセムとヤペテは父の服を取りに行き、その服を自分たちの肩にかけ、二人並んでうしろ向きのままそろそろとテントに入りました。そして、父親の裸を見ないように注意しながら、服を肩から落として、父の体にかけたのです。 24-25 ノアは酔いがさめて起き上がると、とっさに何があったのか悟りました。末の息子ハムがしたことを知った時、彼はこう言いました。
「カナン人〔ハムの子カナンから出た民族〕はのろわれよ。
セムとヤペテの奴隷となって仕えよ。」
26-27 また、こう言いました。
「神がセムを祝福なさるように。
カナンは彼の奴隷となれ。
神がヤペテを祝福し、
セムの繁栄にあずかる者としてくださるように。
カナンは彼の奴隷となれ。」
28-29 ノアは洪水のあとさらに三百五十年生き、九百五十歳で死にました。
セム、ハム、ヤペテの子孫
10 ノアの三人の息子セム、ハム、ヤペテの家系は次のとおりです。以下は、洪水のあと三人に生まれた子どもたちです。
2 ヤペテの子孫はゴメル、マゴグ、マダイ、ヤワン、トバル、メシェク、ティラス。
3 ゴメルの子孫はアシュケナズ、リファテ、トガルマ。
4 ヤワンの子孫はエリシャ、タルシシュ、キティム、ドダニム。
5 この人たちの子孫は各地に散らばり、海に沿ってそれぞれの言語を持つ国々をつくりました。
6 ハムの子孫はクシュ、ミツライム、プテ、カナン。
7 クシュの子孫はセバ、ハビラ、サブタ、ラマ、サブテカ。
ラマの子孫はシェバ、デダン。
8 クシュの子孫の一人に、ニムロデという人がいました。地上で最初の王になった人です。 9 彼は神に祝福された力ある狩猟家で、その名が知れ渡っていました。「神に祝福された力ある狩猟家ニムロデのような人」という称賛のことばもあったほどです。 10 彼は帝国をシヌアルの地に建て、バベル、エレク、アカデ、カルネなどを中心に栄えました。 11-12 領土はやがてアッシリヤまで広がりました。ニネベ、レホボテ・イル、ケラフ、ニネベとケラフの間にあるレセンなどは、みな彼が建てた大きな町です。特にレセンは、王国の中でも重要な町でした。
13-14 ミツライムは、次の地域に住みついた人たちの先祖となりました。ルデ、アナミム、レハビム、ナフトヒム、パテロス、ペリシテ人が出たカスルヒム、カフトル。
15-19 カナンの長男はシドンで、ヘテも彼の子です。カナンの子孫から次の氏族が分かれ出ました。エブス人、エモリ人、ギルガシ人、ヒビ人、アルキ人、シニ人、アルワデ人、ツェマリ人、ハマテ人。カナンの子孫はやがて、シドンからガザ地区のゲラルに至る一帯に進出し、さらにソドム、ゴモラ、アデマ、ツェボイム、そしてレシャの近くまで広がりました。
20 以上がハムの子孫で、たくさんの国や地方に散らばり、多くの国語を話すようになりました。
21 ヤペテの兄セムはエベルのすべての子孫の父祖となりました。 22 セムの子孫は次のとおりです。エラム、アシュル、アルパクシャデ、ルデ、アラム。
23 アラムの子孫はウツ、フル、ゲテル、マシュ。
24 アルパクシャデの息子はシェラフで、シェラフの息子がエベルです。
25 エベルには二人の息子が生まれました。ペレグ〔「分裂」の意〕とヨクタンです。ペレグという名の由来は、彼の時代に世界が分裂し、人々が散らされたからです。
26-30 ヨクタンの子孫はアルモダデ、シェレフ、ハツァルマベテ、エラフ、ハドラム、ウザル、ディクラ、オバル、アビマエル、シェバ、オフィル、ハビラ、ヨバブ。ヨクタンの子孫はみな、メシャからセファルに至る東部の丘陵地帯に住みつきました。
31 以上がセムの子孫です。それぞれを政治区分、国語、地理的な位置などによって分けると、このようになります。
32 これらの人々はみなノアの子孫の家系で、洪水のあと何世代にもわたって、彼らからいろいろな国が興ってきたのです。
バベルの塔
11 初めのころ、人類はみな同じことばを話していました。 2 しだいに人口が増えると、人々は東の方に移って行きました。こうしてシヌアル（バビロン）の地に平原を見つけ、大ぜいの人がそこに住みついたのです。 3-4 やがて大都市を建設しようという話が持ち上がりました。永久に残る記念碑として、天にも届くような塔を造り、自分たちの力を見せつけようというのです。「こうやって一致団結すれば、あちこちに散らされる心配もなくなるだろう。」そう豪語すると、人々はよく焼いた固いれんがをうず高く積み上げ、アスファルトで固めました。
5 神は降りて来て、人間たちが造っている町と塔をごらんになりました。 6 「なんということだ。同じことばを使い、一致して事に当たると、人間はこれだけのことをやすやすとやり遂げてしまう。この分だと、これからもどんなことを始めるか、わかったものではない。思ったことを何でもやってのけるに違いない。 7 地上へ降りて行って、彼らがそれぞれ違ったことばを話すようにしてしまおう。そうすれば、互いの意思が通じなくなるだろう。」
8 こうして、神は人間を世界の各地に散らしたので、都市建設はもうできなくなりました。 9 この都の名がバベル〔「混乱」の意〕と呼ばれたのは、このためです。つまり、神がたくさんの国語を与えて人間を混乱させ、各地に散らしたのが、この地だったからです。
セムの子孫
10-11 さて、セムの家系は次のとおりです。洪水の二年後、セムが百歳の時に、息子アルパクシャデが生まれました。セムはそのあとも五百年生き、多くの息子、娘に恵まれました。
12-13 アルパクシャデは三十五歳の時、息子シェラフをもうけ、そのあと四百三年生き、ほかにも息子と娘が大ぜい生まれました。
14-15 シェラフは息子のエベルが生まれた時、三十歳でした。そのあと四百三年生き、多くの息子、娘に恵まれました。
16-17 エベルは息子のペレグが生まれた時、三十四歳で、そのあと四百三十年生き、息子、娘が大ぜい生まれました。
18-19 ペレグは息子のレウが生まれた時、三十歳で、さらに二百九年生き、息子、娘が大ぜい生まれました。
20-21 レウはセルグが生まれた時、三十二歳で、その後も多くの息子、娘に恵まれて二百七年生き長らえました。
22-23 セルグは息子のナホルが生まれた時、三十歳で、その後も多くの息子、娘に恵まれて、二百年生き長らえました。
24-25 ナホルは息子テラが生まれた時、二十九歳で、その後も百十九年生き、多くの息子、娘に恵まれました。
26 テラが七十歳の時には、息子が三人いました。アブラム、ナホル、ハランです。
テラの家族
27 ハランにはロトという息子が生まれました。 28 しかし、ハランは若くして生まれ故郷のカルデヤのウルで死に、あとには父のテラが残されました。 29 一方、アブラムは腹違いの妹サライと結婚し、ナホルも、ハランが死んで孤児となった姪のミルカを妻にしました。ミルカにはイスカという兄弟がいましたが、二人ともハランの子です。 30 サライは子どもができない体でした。 31 テラは、息子のアブラムと嫁のサライ、ハランの息子で孫に当たるロトを連れてカルデヤのウルを出発し、カナンの地へ向かいました。しかし途中、ハランの町に立ち寄ったまま、そこに住みつき、 32 二百五歳の時、ハランで死にました。

God’s Covenant With Noah
9 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.(A) 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.(B) 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.(C) Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.(D)
4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.(E) 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.(F) I will demand an accounting from every animal.(G) And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.(H)
6 “Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;(I)
for in the image of God(J)
has God made mankind.
7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”(K)
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you(L) and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant(M) with you:(N) Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.(O)”
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant(P) I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:(Q) 13 I have set my rainbow(R) in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow(S) appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant(T) between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.(U) 16 Whenever the rainbow(V) appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant(W) between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant(X) I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
The Sons of Noah
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth.(Y) (Ham was the father of Canaan.)(Z) 19 These were the three sons of Noah,(AA) and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.(AB)
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine,(AC) he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked(AD) and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
26 He also said,
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem!(AH)
May Canaan be the slave(AI) of Shem.
27 May God extend Japheth’s[b] territory;(AJ)
may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,(AK)
and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.”
28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.(AL)
The Table of Nations
10 This is the account(AM) of Shem, Ham and Japheth,(AN) Noah’s sons,(AO) who themselves had sons after the flood.
The Japhethites(AP)
2 The sons[c] of Japheth:
Gomer,(AQ) Magog,(AR) Madai, Javan,(AS) Tubal,(AT) Meshek(AU) and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer:
Ashkenaz,(AV) Riphath and Togarmah.(AW)
4 The sons of Javan:
Elishah,(AX) Tarshish,(AY) the Kittites(AZ) and the Rodanites.[d] 5 (From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.)(BA)
The Hamites(BB)
6 The sons of Ham:
Cush,(BC) Egypt, Put(BD) and Canaan.(BE)
7 The sons of Cush:
Seba,(BF) Havilah,(BG) Sabtah, Raamah(BH) and Sabteka.
The sons of Raamah:
8 Cush was the father[e] of Nimrod,(BK) who became a mighty warrior on the earth. 9 He was a mighty(BL) hunter(BM) before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon,(BN) Uruk,(BO) Akkad and Kalneh,(BP) in[f] Shinar.[g](BQ) 11 From that land he went to Assyria,(BR) where he built Nineveh,(BS) Rehoboth Ir,[h] Calah 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city.
13 Egypt was the father of
the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 14 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines(BT) came) and Caphtorites.(BU)
15 Canaan(BV) was the father of
Sidon(BW) his firstborn,[i](BX) and of the Hittites,(BY) 16 Jebusites,(BZ) Amorites,(CA) Girgashites,(CB) 17 Hivites,(CC) Arkites, Sinites, 18 Arvadites,(CD) Zemarites and Hamathites.(CE)
Later the Canaanite(CF) clans scattered 19 and the borders of Canaan(CG) reached from Sidon(CH) toward Gerar(CI) as far as Gaza,(CJ) and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim,(CK) as far as Lasha.
20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.
The Semites(CL)
21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was[j] Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.(CM)
22 The sons of Shem:
Elam,(CN) Ashur,(CO) Arphaxad,(CP) Lud and Aram.(CQ)
23 The sons of Aram:
Uz,(CR) Hul, Gether and Meshek.[k]
24 Arphaxad was the father of[l] Shelah,
and Shelah the father of Eber.(CS)
25 Two sons were born to Eber:
One was named Peleg,[m] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.
26 Joktan was the father of
Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal,(CT) Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,(CU) 29 Ophir,(CV) Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.
30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country.
31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.
32 These are the clans of Noah’s sons,(CW) according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth(CX) after the flood.
The Tower of Babel
11 Now the whole world had one language(CY) and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[n] they found a plain in Shinar[o](CZ) and settled there.
3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks(DA) and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone,(DB) and tar(DC) for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens,(DD) so that we may make a name(DE) for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered(DF) over the face of the whole earth.”(DG)
5 But the Lord came down(DH) to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language(DI) they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us(DJ) go down(DK) and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”(DL)
8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth,(DM) and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[p](DN)—because there the Lord confused the language(DO) of the whole world.(DP) From there the Lord scattered(DQ) them over the face of the whole earth.
From Shem to Abram(DR)
10 This is the account(DS) of Shem’s family line.
Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father[q] of Arphaxad.(DT) 11 And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.
12 When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah.(DU) 13 And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.[r]
14 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber.(DV) 15 And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
16 When Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg.(DW) 17 And after he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters.
18 When Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu.(DX) 19 And after he became the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters.
20 When Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug.(DY) 21 And after he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and daughters.
22 When Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor.(DZ) 23 And after he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters.
24 When Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Terah.(EA) 25 And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.
26 After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram,(EB) Nahor(EC) and Haran.(ED)
Abram’s Family
27 This is the account(EE) of Terah’s family line.
Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor(EF) and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.(EG) 28 While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans,(EH) in the land of his birth. 29 Abram and Nahor(EI) both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai,(EJ) and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milkah;(EK) she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milkah and Iskah. 30 Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.(EL)
31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot(EM) son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law(EN) Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans(EO) to go to Canaan.(EP) But when they came to Harran,(EQ) they settled there.
32 Terah(ER) lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.

イエス、悪魔に試みられる
4 さて、イエスは聖霊に満たされ、ヨルダン川をあとにすると、聖霊に導かれるまま、ユダヤの荒野に向かわれました。 2 そこで、悪魔が四十日間、イエスを誘惑したのです。その間イエスは、何も口にしなかったので、空腹を覚えられました。 3 その時、悪魔がたくみに誘いかけました。「もしあなたが神の子なら、ここに転がっている石をパンに変えてみたらどうだ。」 4 しかしイエスは、お答えになりました。「『人はただパンだけで生きるのではない』（申命8・3）と聖書に書いてあるではないか。」 5 次に悪魔は、イエスを高い所へ連れて行き、一瞬のうちに、世界の国々とその繁栄ぶりとを見せて言いました。 6-7 「さあ、ここにひれ伏して、この私を拝みなさい。そうすれば、これらの国々とその栄光とを、全部あなたにやろう。」 8 イエスはお答えになりました。「『神である主だけを礼拝し、主にだけ従え』（申命6・13）と聖書に書いてあるではないか」 9 さらに悪魔は、イエスをエルサレムへ連れて行き、神殿の頂に立たせて言いました。「さあ、ほんとうに神の子だと言うなら、ここから飛び降りてみなさい。 10 聖書には『神は天使を送って、 11 あなたを支えさせ、あなたが岩の上に落ちて砕かれることのないように守られる』（詩篇91・11-12）と、はっきり書いてあるのだから。」 12 しかしイエスは、お答えになりました。「『あなたの神である主を、試みてはならない』（申命6・16）とも書いてある。」 13 あの手この手の誘惑のかぎりを尽くすと、悪魔は一時、イエスから離れて行きました。
イエス、活動を始める
14 イエスが聖霊の力に満たされてガリラヤに戻られると、まもなくその地方一帯にイエスの評判が広まりました。 15 あちこちの会堂で教えを語るイエスは、人々の賞賛の的でした。
16 それからイエスは、少年時代を過ごしたナザレに帰り、いつものように土曜日（安息日）に会堂へ行かれました。聖書を朗読しようと席を立つと、 17 預言者イザヤの書が手渡されたので、次の箇所をお開きになりました。
18-19 「わたしの上に主の御霊がとどまっておられる。
主は、貧しい人たちに
この福音（神の救いの知らせ）を伝えるために、
わたしを任命された。
主はわたしを遣わして、
捕虜には解放を、
盲人には視力の回復をお告げになる。
踏みにじられている人を自由にし、
主の恵みの年をお告げになる。」（イザヤ61・1―２）
20 イエスは朗読を終えると、聖書を閉じ、係の者に返して、腰をおろされました。みんなの目はいっせいにイエスに注がれました。 21 それにこたえるように、イエスはこう言われました。「この聖書のことばは、今日、実現したのです。」 22 人々はみなイエスをほめ、そのことばのすばらしさに驚きました。しかし一方では、「いったいどうなっているのだ。ただのヨセフのせがれではないか」とささやき合いました。 23 そこで、イエスは言われました。「きっとあなたがたは、『医者よ、自分を治せ』ということわざを引いて、『カペナウムで行った奇跡を、自分の郷里でもしてくれ』と言うのでしょう。 24 はっきり言いましょう。どんな預言者でも、故郷では歓迎されないものです。
25-26 エリヤはどうだったでしょうか。三年半のあいだ雨がなく、国中が大ききんに見舞われた時、イスラエルには助けを求める未亡人が多くいました。しかしエリヤは、そういう人たちのところへではなく、シドンのツァレファテに住む外国人の未亡人のところへ遣わされ、奇跡によって彼女を助けました。 27 また、預言者エリシャの場合はどうだったでしょうか。ユダヤにもツァラアト（皮膚が冒され、汚れているとされた当時の疾患）の人がたくさんいたというのに、そのだれもがいやされず、ただシリヤ人ナアマンだけがいやされたではありませんか。」 28 こう言われて、会堂にいた人たちはひどく腹を立て、 29 どっとイエスに襲いかかり、その町の丘のがけっぷちまで連れて行きました。そこから突き落とすつもりだったのです。 30 ところがイエスは、群衆の間をすり抜け、去って行かれました。
31 それからイエスは、ガリラヤの町カペナウムに帰り、毎土曜日、会堂で教えられました。 32 ここでもまた、人々はイエスの教えに驚きました。イエスが、権威あることばで真理を語られたからです。
33 ある時、会堂で教えておられると、悪霊につかれた男が、イエスに向かって大声でわめき立てました。 34 「ナザレのイエス。お願いだから出て行ってくれ！ おれたちをどうしようというのだ。おれたちを滅ぼしに来たのだろう。あなたがだれなのか、よくわかっている。神のきよい御子だ。」 35 イエスは悪霊をさえぎり、「黙りなさい。その人から出て行きなさい」とお命じになりました。すると突然、悪霊は、人々の目の前で男を投げ倒しましたが、それ以上は何の危害も加えずに出て行きました。 36 あっけにとられた人々は、口々に言いました。「悪霊までが言うことを聞くとは、この方のことばにはなんと力があるのだろう。」 37 こうしてイエスのうわさは、この地方一帯に非常な勢いで広まりました。
38 その日イエスは、会堂からシモン（ペテロ）の家へ行かれました。すると、シモンのしゅうとめが高熱にうなされているところでした。「お願いです。治してやってください」と人々に頼まれて、 39 イエスは彼女の枕もとに立ち、熱病をおしかりになりました。するとどうでしょう。たちまち熱が引き、平熱に戻ったしゅうとめはすぐに起き上がり、食事の用意を始めたではありませんか。
40 夕方になると、病人を連れた村の人たちが、ぞくぞくとイエスのもとに詰めかけました。イエスは、どんな病気であろうと、連れて来られた病人の一人一人にさわり、治されました。 41 中には悪霊につかれた人もいましたが、イエスが命令すると、悪霊は大声で、「あなたは神の子だ！」と叫びながら出て行きました。しかし、イエスは悪霊がものを言うことを許されませんでした。悪霊は、イエスがキリスト（ギリシャ語で、救い主）であることを知っていたからです。
42 翌朝早く、イエスはただ一人、人気のない寂しい所へ行かれました。人々はあちこち捜し回り、やっとのことでイエスを見つけ出すと、もうどこへも行かないように頼みました。 43 しかし、イエスはお答えになりました。「ほかの町々にも、神の福音（救いの知らせ）を伝えなければならないのです。そのために、わたしは来たのですから。」 44 こうしてイエスは、ユダヤ中を旅し、各地の会堂で教えられました。

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness(A)
4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit,(B) left the Jordan(C) and was led by the Spirit(D) into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days(E) he was tempted[a] by the devil.(F) He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God,(G) tell this stone to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”(H)
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.(I) 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me,(J) and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”(K)
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”(L)
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”(M)
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting,(N) he left him(O) until an opportune time.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
14 Jesus returned to Galilee(P) in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.(Q) 15 He was teaching in their synagogues,(R) and everyone praised him.
16 He went to Nazareth,(S) where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue,(T) as was his custom. He stood up to read,(U) 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,(V)
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news(W) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f](X)
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.(Y) The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled(Z) in your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.(AA)
23 Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown(AB) what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”(AC)
24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(AD) 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(AE) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(AF) 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy[g] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”(AG)
28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town,(AH) and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.(AI)
Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit(AJ)
31 Then he went down to Capernaum,(AK) a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching,(AL) because his words had authority.(AM)
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34 “Go away! What do you want with us,(AN) Jesus of Nazareth?(AO) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are(AP)—the Holy One of God!”(AQ)
35 “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly.(AR) “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36 All the people were amazed(AS) and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority(AT) and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 37 And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.(AU)
Jesus Heals Many(AV)(AW)
38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. 39 So he bent over her and rebuked(AX) the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40 At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one,(AY) he healed them.(AZ) 41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!”(BA) But he rebuked(BB) them and would not allow them to speak,(BC) because they knew he was the Messiah.
42 At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God(BD) to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.(BE)
