² He continued, “I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us,^(A) so that we may live and not die.”^(B)

⁸ Then Judah^(A) said to Israel^(B) his father, “Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.^(C)

⁴ Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’^[a]”^(A)

Hezekiah’s Illness^(A)

38 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz^(B) went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order,^(C) because you are going to die; you will not recover.”^(D)

⁹ Now hurry^(A) back to my father and say to him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don’t delay.^(B)

⁴ If you will send our brother along with us, we will go down and buy food for you.^(A)

² So when they had eaten all the grain they had brought from Egypt,^(A) their father said to them, “Go back and buy us a little more food.”^(B)
