⁴³ He had him ride in a chariot^(A) as his second-in-command,^[a](B) and people shouted before him, “Make way^[b]!”^(C) Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.^(D)

⁸ “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.^(A) He made me father^(B) to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.^(C)

¹⁰ and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt. So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.^(A)

²⁶ They told him, “Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt.”^(A) Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them.^(B)

⁶ Now Joseph was the governor of the land,^(A) the person who sold grain to all its people.^(B) So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.^(C)

⁸ have them bring a royal robe^(A) the king has worn and a horse^(B) the king has ridden, one with a royal crest placed on its head. ⁹ Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble princes. Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city streets, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!^(C)’”

³³ “Then the man who is lord over the land said to us, ‘This is how I will know whether you are honest men: Leave one of your brothers here with me, and take food for your starving households and go.^(A)

³⁰ “The man who is lord over the land spoke harshly to us^(A) and treated us as though we were spying on the land.^(B)
