⁷ He ^(A)raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
⁸ to make them ^(B)sit with princes,
    with the princes of his people.

¹⁹ until ^(A)what he had said came to pass,
    the word of the Lord ^(B)tested him.
^20 (C)The king sent and ^(D)released him;
    the ruler of the peoples set him free;
²¹ he ^(E)made him lord of his house
    and ruler of all his possessions,
²² to bind^[a] his princes at his pleasure
    and to teach his elders wisdom.

^7 (A)The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
    ^(B)he brings low and he exalts.
^8 (C)He raises up the poor from the dust;
    he lifts the needy from the ash heap
^(D)to make them sit with princes
    and inherit a seat of honor.
^(E)For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's,
    and on them he has set the world.

³ to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
    ^(A)to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
^(B)the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
    the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
^(C)that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
    the planting of the Lord, ^(D)that he may be glorified.^[a]
