²⁹ Then it happened, as he drew back his hand, that his brother came out unexpectedly; and she said, “How did you break through? This breach be upon you!” Therefore his name was called ^(A)Perez.^[a]

^3 (A)Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, ^(B)Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.

⁴ And ^(A)Tamar, his daughter-in-law, ^(B)bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

²⁰ And ^(A)the sons of Judah according to their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Parzites; of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites.

¹² The sons of ^(A)Judah were ^(B)Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). ^(C)The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

⁶ All the sons of Perez who dwelt at Jerusalem were four hundred and sixty-eight valiant men.

¹² May your house be like the house of ^(A)Perez, ^(B)whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of ^(C)the offspring which the Lord will give you from this young woman.”

³³ the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,

⁴ Also ^(A)in Jerusalem dwelt some of the children of Judah and of the children of Benjamin.

The children of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the children of ^(B)Perez;

⁴ Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the descendants of Perez, the son of Judah.
