³ Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God,^(A) who answered me in the day of my distress^(B) and who has been with me wherever I have gone.^(C)”

⁷ In great fear^(A) and distress^(B) Jacob divided the people who were with him into two groups,^[a](C) and the flocks and herds and camels as well.

³ Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Go back^(A) to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”^(B)

⁴² If the God of my father,^(A) the God of Abraham^(B) and the Fear of Isaac,^(C) had not been with me,^(D) you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands,^(E) and last night he rebuked you.^(F)”

¹⁹ People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more.^(A) How gracious he will be when you cry for help!^(B) As soon as he hears, he will answer^(C) you.
