¹⁶ The young woman ^(A)was very attractive in appearance, a maiden^[a] whom no man had known. She went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up.

⁷ When the men of the place asked him about his wife, ^(A)he said, “She is my sister,” for ^(B)he feared to say, “My wife,” thinking, “lest the men of the place should kill me because of Rebekah,” because ^(C)she was attractive in appearance.

¹⁷ Now therefore, ^(A)kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. ¹⁸ But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him ^(B)keep alive for yourselves.

⁶ So he left all that he had in Joseph's charge, and because of him he had no concern about anything but the food he ate.

Now Joseph was ^(A)handsome in form and appearance.
