¹² He said, ^(A)“Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for ^(B)now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

^21 (A)Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? ²² You see that ^(B)faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed ^(C)by his works;

¹⁸ But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith ^(A)apart from your works, and I will show you my faith ^(B)by my works.

²² And Samuel said,

^32 (A)He who did not spare his own Son but ^(B)gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

⁵ because ^(A)Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. ^(A)God is faithful, and ^(B)he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

^37 (A)Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. ³⁸ And ^(B)whoever does not take his cross and ^(C)follow me is not worthy of me.

⁸ but ^(A)God shows his love for us in that ^(B)while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

^29 (A)And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold^[a] and will ^(B)inherit eternal life.
