⁴ Let a ^(A)little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree,

²⁴ And when the man had brought the men into Joseph's house and ^(A)given them water, and they had washed their feet, and when he had given their donkeys fodder,

² and said, “My lords, ^(A)please turn aside to your servant's house and spend the night ^(B)and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way.” They said, ^(C)“No; we will spend the night in the town square.”

³² So the man came to the house and unharnessed the camels, and gave ^(A)straw and fodder to the camels, and there was ^(B)water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

⁴⁴ Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; ^(A)you gave me no water for my feet, but ^(B)she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

⁴¹ And she rose ^(A)and bowed with her face to the ground and said, “Behold, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”

¹⁰ and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has ^(A)shown hospitality, ^(B)has washed the feet of the saints, has ^(C)cared for the afflicted, and has ^(D)devoted herself to every good work.

⁵ Then he ^(A)poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. ⁶ He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” ^7 (B)Jesus answered him, “What I am doing ^(C)you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” ^8 (D)Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, ^(E)“If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” ⁹ Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, ^(F)except for his feet,^[a] but is completely clean. And ^(G)you^[b] are clean, ^(H)but not every one of you.” ^11 (I)For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”

¹² When he had washed their feet and ^(J)put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, ^(K)“Do you understand what I have done to you? ^13 (L)You call me ^(M)Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, ^(N)you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, ^(O)that you also should do just as I have done to you.
