¹¹ And the Angel of the Lord said to her:

²³ Now it happened ^(A)in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel ^(B)groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and ^(C)their cry came up to God because of the bondage. ²⁴ So God ^(D)heard their groaning, and God ^(E)remembered His ^(F)covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

⁷ And the Lord said: ^(A)“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry ^(B)because of their taskmasters, ^(C)for I know their ^[a]sorrows.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: ^(A)Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear ^(B)a Son, and shall call His name ^(C)Immanuel.^[a]

²⁰ So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name ^[a]Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”

⁵¹ Joseph called the name of the firstborn ^[a]Manasseh: “For God has made me forget all my toil and all my ^(A)father’s house.” ⁵² And the name of the second he called ^[b]Ephraim: “For God has caused me to be ^(B)fruitful in the land of my affliction.”

¹⁹ Then God said: “No, ^(A)Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My ^(B)covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

⁶³ And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, “His name is John.” So they all marveled.
