Jesus Heals Two Men with Demons

^28 (A)And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes,^[a] two ^(B)demon-possessed^[b] men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way.

7 “When the ^(A)Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, ^(B)the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations ^(C)more numerous and mightier than you,

¹¹ “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, ^(A)I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

² I will send an ^(A)angel before you, ^(B)and I will drive out the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

^23 (A)“When my angel goes before you and brings you ^(B)to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I blot them out, ²⁴ you shall ^(C)not bow down to their gods nor serve them, ^(D)nor do as they do, but ^(E)you shall utterly overthrow them and break their ^(F)pillars in pieces. ²⁵ You ^(G)shall serve the Lord your God, and ^(H)he^[a] will bless your bread and your water, and ^(I)I will take sickness away from among you. ^26 (J)None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the ^(K)number of your days. ²⁷ I will send ^(L)my terror before you and will throw into ^(M)confusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. ²⁸ And ^(N)I will send hornets^[b] before you, which shall drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites from before you.

^15 (A)Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth, ¹⁶ and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, ¹⁷ the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, ¹⁸ the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the clans of the Canaanites dispersed. ¹⁹ And the territory of the Canaanites extended from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza, and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.
