Introduction

1 Paul, ^(A)an apostle (^(B)not sent from men nor through human agency, but ^(C)through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who ^(D)raised Him from the dead), ² and all ^(E)the brothers who are with me,

To ^(F)the churches of Galatia:

Distortion of the Gospel

⁶ I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting ^(A)Him who called you ^[a]by the grace of Christ, for a ^(B)different gospel, ⁷ which is not just another account; but there are some who are ^(C)disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But even if we, or ^(D)an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be ^[b](E)accursed! ⁹ As we ^(F)have said before, even now I say again: ^(G)if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be ^[c](H)accursed!

Paul Defends His Ministry

¹¹ For ^(A)I would have you know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel which was preached by me is ^(B)not ^[a]of human invention. ¹² For ^(C)I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a ^(D)revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹³ For you have heard of ^(E)my former way of life in Judaism, how I ^(F)used to persecute ^(G)the church of God beyond measure and ^(H)tried to destroy it; ¹⁴ and I ^(I)was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my ^[b]countrymen, being more extremely zealous for my ^(J)ancestral traditions. ¹⁵ But when ^[c]He who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and ^(K)called me through His grace was pleased ¹⁶ to reveal His Son in me so that I might ^(L)preach Him among the Gentiles, ^(M)I did not immediately consult with ^[d](N)flesh and blood, ^17 (O)nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went away to Arabia, and returned once more to ^(P)Damascus.

¹⁸ Then ^(Q)three years later I went up ^(R)to Jerusalem to ^[e]become acquainted with ^[f](S)Cephas, and stayed with him for fifteen days. ¹⁹ But I did not see another one of the apostles except ^[g](T)James, the Lord’s brother. ²⁰ (Now in what I am writing to you, ^[h]I assure you ^(U)before God that I am not lying.)

The Council at Jerusalem

2 Then after an interval of fourteen years I ^(A)went up again to Jerusalem with ^(B)Barnabas, taking ^(C)Titus along also. ^2 [a]It was because of a ^(D)revelation that I went up; and I submitted to them the ^(E)gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but I did so in private to those who were of reputation, for fear that somehow I might be ^(F)running, or had run, in vain.

¹⁵ and regard the ^(A)patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also ^(B)our beloved brother Paul, ^(C)according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, ¹⁶ as also in all his letters, speaking in them of ^(D)these things, ^(E)in which there are some things that are hard to understand, which the untaught and ^(F)unstable distort, as they do also ^(G)the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
