¹⁴ Now because we eat the salt of the palace^[a] and it is not fitting for us to witness the king's dishonor, therefore we send and inform the king,

¹² From then on ^(A)Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend. ^(B)Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.” ¹³ So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on ^(C)the judgment seat at a place called The Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic^[a] Gabbatha. ¹⁴ Now it was ^(D)the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour.^[b] He said to the Jews, ^(E)“Behold your King!” ¹⁵ They cried out, ^(F)“Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”

⁵ “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii^[a] and ^(A)given to the poor?” ⁶ He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and ^(B)having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it.

^31 (A)And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for ^(B)with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain.
