La gloria de Dios llena el templo

43 Entonces me llevó a la puerta, la puerta que mira hacia el oriente(A); 2 y he aquí, la gloria del Dios(B) de Israel venía de la parte del oriente(C). Su voz era como el sonido de muchas aguas(D), y la tierra resplandecía de su gloria(E). 3 Y tenía[a] el aspecto de la visión que vi(F), como la visión que había visto cuando Él vino[b] a destruir la ciudad(G); y las visiones eran como la visión que yo había visto junto al río Quebar(H). Entonces me postré sobre mi rostro(I). 4 La gloria del Señor entró en el templo[c] por el camino de la puerta que da hacia el oriente(J). 5 Y el Espíritu me levantó y me llevó al atrio interior(K), y he aquí, la gloria del Señor llenó el templo(L).

13 Estas son las medidas del altar en codos[m] (cada codo de un codo y un palmo menor): la base[n], un codo, el ancho, un codo(AA); su reborde en la orilla por todo alrededor, un palmo(AB). Y esta será la altura[o] del altar: 14 desde la base en el suelo hasta el zócalo inferior será de dos codos, por un codo de ancho; y desde el zócalo menor hasta el zócalo mayor será de cuatro codos, por un[p] codo de ancho(AC). 15 El hogar del altar[q] será de cuatro codos, y del hogar del altar[r] se extenderán hacia arriba cuatro cuernos(AD). 16 El hogar del altar[s] será de doce codos de largo por doce de ancho, cuadrado por sus cuatro lados(AE). 17 Y el zócalo será de catorce codos de largo por catorce de ancho por sus cuatro lados; el borde alrededor será de medio codo, y su base, de un codo alrededor; sus gradas(AF) mirarán al oriente(AG).

18 Y me dijo: Hijo de hombre(AH), así dice el Señor Dios[t]: «Estos son los estatutos para el altar el día que sea construido, para ofrecer holocaustos sobre él(AI) y para esparcir sobre él sangre(AJ). 19 A los sacerdotes levitas que son de la descendencia de Sadoc(AK), que se acercan a mí(AL) para servirme» —declara el Señor Dios(AM)— «darás un novillo de la vacada para la ofrenda por el pecado(AN). 20 Y tomarás de su sangre y la pondrás sobre sus cuatro cuernos(AO), en los cuatro ángulos del zócalo y en el borde todo alrededor(AP); así lo limpiarás y harás expiación por él(AQ). 21 Luego tomarás el novillo para la ofrenda por el pecado, y será quemado en el lugar señalado del templo, fuera del santuario(AR). 22 Al segundo día ofrecerás un macho cabrío sin defecto para la ofrenda por el pecado(AS), y purificarás el altar como lo purificaron(AT) con el novillo. 23 Cuando hayas terminado de purificarlo, ofrecerás un novillo sin defecto de la vacada y un carnero sin defecto del rebaño(AU). 24 Los ofrecerás delante del Señor, y los sacerdotes echarán sal sobre ellos y los ofrecerán en holocausto al Señor(AV). 25 Durante siete días prepararás diariamente un macho cabrío para la ofrenda por el pecado(AW); también serán preparados un novillo de la vacada y un carnero sin defecto del rebaño. 26 Durante siete días harán expiación por el altar y lo purificarán; así lo consagrarán[u]. 27 Cuando hayan terminado estos[v] días, sucederá que del octavo día(AX) en adelante, los sacerdotes ofrecerán[w] sobre el altar vuestros holocaustos y vuestras ofrendas de paz(AY); y yo me complaceré en vosotros» —declara el Señor Dios(AZ).

10 Tú, hijo de hombre, muestra a la casa de Israel esta casa, y avergüéncense de sus pecados; y midan el diseño de ella. 11 Y si se avergonzaren de todo lo que han hecho, hazles entender el diseño de la casa, su disposición, sus salidas y sus entradas, y todas sus formas, y todas sus descripciones, y todas sus configuraciones, y todas sus leyes; y descríbelo delante de sus ojos, para que guarden toda su forma y todas sus reglas, y las pongan por obra. 12 Esta es la ley de la casa: Sobre la cumbre del monte, el recinto entero, todo en derredor, será santísimo. He aquí que esta es la ley de la casa.

13 Estas son las medidas del altar por codos (el codo de a codo y palmo menor). La base, de un codo, y de un codo el ancho; y su remate por su borde alrededor, de un palmo. Este será el zócalo del altar. 14 Y desde la base, sobre el suelo, hasta el lugar de abajo, dos codos, y la anchura de un codo; y desde la cornisa menor hasta la cornisa mayor, cuatro codos, y el ancho de un codo. 15 El altar era de cuatro codos, y encima del altar había cuatro cuernos. 16 Y el altar tenía doce codos de largo, y doce de ancho, cuadrado a sus cuatro lados. 17 El descanso era de catorce codos de longitud y catorce de anchura en sus cuatro lados, y de medio codo el borde alrededor; y la base de un codo por todos lados; y sus gradas estaban al oriente.(B)

18 Y me dijo: Hijo de hombre, así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Estas son las ordenanzas del altar el día en que sea hecho, para ofrecer holocausto sobre él y para esparcir sobre él sangre. 19 A los sacerdotes levitas que son del linaje de Sadoc, que se acerquen a mí, dice Jehová el Señor, para ministrar ante mí, darás un becerro de la vacada para expiación. 20 Y tomarás de su sangre, y pondrás en los cuatro cuernos del altar, y en las cuatro esquinas del descanso, y en el borde alrededor; así lo limpiarás y purificarás. 21 Tomarás luego el becerro de la expiación, y lo quemarás conforme a la ley de la casa, fuera del santuario. 22 Al segundo día ofrecerás un macho cabrío sin defecto, para expiación; y purificarán el altar como lo purificaron con el becerro. 23 Cuando acabes de expiar, ofrecerás un becerro de la vacada sin defecto, y un carnero sin tacha de la manada; 24 y los ofrecerás delante de Jehová, y los sacerdotes echarán sal sobre ellos, y los ofrecerán en holocausto a Jehová. 25 Por siete días sacrificarán un macho cabrío cada día en expiación; asimismo sacrificarán el becerro de la vacada y un carnero sin tacha del rebaño. 26 Por siete días harán expiación por el altar, y lo limpiarán, y así lo consagrarán. 27 Y acabados estos días, del octavo día en adelante, los sacerdotes sacrificarán sobre el altar vuestros holocaustos y vuestras ofrendas de paz; y me seréis aceptos, dice Jehová el Señor.(C)

10-11 »Anda y di a los israelitas cómo debe ser el templo, y sus salidas y entradas. Muéstrales la forma exacta y las medidas que deben tener; descríbeles todo esto, para que lo hagan tal como te lo he ordenado. Enséñales también todos los mandamientos que te he dado, para que los obedezcan y se avergüencen de sus malas acciones.

12 »Ésta es la ley del templo: Todo el terreno en la parte alta de la colina que rodea el templo, será declarado un lugar santo».

El altar

13-17 El altar tenía una forma casi piramidal, y estaba hecho de tres cuadrados de diferentes medidas: La parte inferior medía siete metros por lado y un metro de alto, aunque por causa del canal que rodeaba el altar sólo se veía medio metro. La parte central era cuadrada y medía seis metros por lado y dos metros de alto. La parte superior, donde se quemaban las ofrendas, era cuadrada, medía dos metros por lado, y tenía dos metros de altura. Por la parte de arriba sobresalían cuatro ganchos en forma de cuernos. Los escalones para subir al altar daban hacia el este.

Las ofrendas para consagrar el altar

18 Luego, aquel hombre me dijo:

«El Dios de Israel ordena hacer lo siguiente:

“Cuando el altar ya esté listo para rociarlo con sangre y presentar en él ofrendas, 19 sólo podrán acercarse al altar y servirme los sacerdotes descendientes de Sadoc. Tú les darás un ternero para que me lo presenten como ofrenda por el pecado. Yo, el Dios de Israel, lo ordeno.

20 ”Después de eso, purificarás el altar con un poco de la sangre del ternero. The Glory Returns to the Temple

43 Then he brought me to the gate that faced toward the east. 2 I saw[a] the glory of the God of Israel[b] coming from the east;[c] the sound was like that of rushing water,[d] and the earth radiated[e] his glory. 3 It was like the vision I saw when he[f] came to destroy the city, and the vision I saw by the Kebar River. I threw myself face down. 4 The glory of the Lord came into the temple by way of the gate that faces east. 5 Then a wind[g] lifted me up and brought me to the inner court; I watched[h] the glory of the Lord filling the temple.[i]

6 I heard someone speaking to me from the temple, while the man was standing beside me. 7 He said to me: “Son of man, this is the place of my throne[j] and the place for the soles of my feet,[k] where I will live among the people of Israel forever. The house of Israel will no longer profane my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their spiritual prostitution or by the pillars of their kings set up when they die.[l] 8 When they placed their threshold by my threshold and their doorpost by my doorpost, with only the wall between me and them, they profaned my holy name by the abominable deeds they committed. So I consumed them in my anger. 9 Now they must put away their spiritual prostitution and the pillars of their kings far from me, and then I will live among them forever.

10 “As for you, son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, so that they will be ashamed of their sins and measure the pattern. 11 When they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple—its pattern, its exits and entrances, and its whole design—all its statutes, its entire design, and all its laws; write it all down in their sight, so that they may observe its entire design and all its statutes and do them.

12 “This is the law of the temple: The entire area on top of the mountain all around will be most holy. Indeed, this is the law of the temple.

The Altar

13 “And these are the measurements of the altar:[m] Its base[n] is 1¾ feet[o] high[p] and 1¾ feet[q] wide, and its border nine inches[r] on its edge. This is to be the height[s] of the altar. 14 From the base of the ground to the lower ledge is 3½ feet,[t] and the width 1¾ feet;[u] and from the smaller ledge to the larger ledge, 7 feet,[v] and the width 1¾ feet; 15 and the altar hearth, 7 feet, and from the altar hearth four horns projecting upward. 16 Now the altar hearth[w] is a perfect square, 21 feet[x] long and 21 feet wide. 17 The ledge is 24½ feet[y] long and 24½ feet wide on four sides; the border around it is 10½ inches,[z] and its surrounding base 1¾ feet.[aa] Its steps face east.”

18 Then he said to me: “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: These are the statutes of the altar: On the day it is built to offer up burnt offerings on it and to sprinkle blood on it,[ab] 19 you will give a young bull for a sin offering to the Levitical priests who are descended from Zadok, who approach me to minister to me, declares the Sovereign Lord. 20 You will take some of its blood and place it on the four horns of the altar, on the four corners of the ledge, and on the border all around; you will purify it and make atonement for it.[ac] 21 You will also take the bull for the sin offering, and it will be burned in the appointed place in the temple, outside the sanctuary.

22 “On the second day, you will offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering. They will purify the altar just as they purified it with the bull. 23 When you have finished purifying it, you will offer an unblemished young bull and an unblemished ram from the flock. 24 You will present them before the Lord, and the priests will scatter salt on them[ad] and offer them up as a burnt offering to the Lord.

25 “For seven days you will provide every day a goat for a sin offering; a young bull and a ram from the flock, both without blemish, will be provided. 26 For seven days they will make atonement for the altar and cleanse it, so they will consecrate it.[ae] 27 When the prescribed period is over,[af] on the eighth day and thereafter the priests will offer up on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings;[ag] I will accept you, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

43 Then the man brought me to the gate facing east,(A) 2 and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters,(B) and the land was radiant with his glory.(C) 3 The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he[a] came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown. 4 The glory(D) of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing east.(E) 5 Then the Spirit(F) lifted me up(G) and brought me into the inner court, and the glory(H) of the Lord filled the temple.(I)

The people of Israel will never again defile(K) my holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their prostitution and the funeral offerings[b] for their kings at their death.[c](L) 8 When they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their detestable practices. So I destroyed them in my anger. 9 Now let them put away from me their prostitution and the funeral offerings for their kings, and I will live among them forever.(M)

10 “Son of man, describe the temple to the people of Israel, that they may be ashamed(N) of their sins. Let them consider its perfection, 11 and if they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement, its exits and entrances—its whole design and all its regulations[d] and laws. Write these down before them so that they may be faithful to its design and follow all its regulations.(O)

12 “This is the law of the temple: All the surrounding area(P) on top of the mountain will be most holy.(Q) Such is the law of the temple.

The Great Altar Restored

13 “These are the measurements of the altar(R) in long cubits,[e] that cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth: Its gutter is a cubit deep and a cubit wide, with a rim of one span[f] around the edge. And this is the height of the altar: 14 From the gutter on the ground up to the lower ledge that goes around the altar it is two cubits high, and the ledge is a cubit wide.[g] From this lower ledge to the upper ledge that goes around the altar it is four cubits high, and that ledge is also a cubit wide.[h] 15 Above that, the altar hearth(S) is four cubits high, and four horns(T) project upward from the hearth. 16 The altar hearth is square, twelve cubits[i] long and twelve cubits wide.(U) 17 The upper ledge(V) also is square, fourteen cubits[j] long and fourteen cubits wide. All around the altar is a gutter of one cubit with a rim of half a cubit.[k] The steps(W) of the altar face east.(X)”

18 Then he said to me, “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: These will be the regulations for sacrificing burnt offerings(Y) and splashing blood(Z) against the altar when it is built: 19 You are to give a young bull(AA) as a sin offering[l] to the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok,(AB) who come near(AC) to minister before me, declares the Sovereign Lord. 20 You are to take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar(AD) and on the four corners of the upper ledge(AE) and all around the rim, and so purify the altar(AF) and make atonement for it. 21 You are to take the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the designated part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.(AG)

22 “On the second day you are to offer a male goat without defect for a sin offering, and the altar is to be purified as it was purified with the bull. 23 When you have finished purifying it, you are to offer a young bull and a ram from the flock, both without defect.(AH) 24 You are to offer them before the Lord, and the priests are to sprinkle salt(AI) on them and sacrifice them as a burnt offering to the Lord.

25 “For seven days(AJ) you are to provide a male goat daily for a sin offering; you are also to provide a young bull and a ram from the flock, both without defect.(AK) 26 For seven days they are to make atonement for the altar and cleanse it; thus they will dedicate it. 27 At the end of these days, from the eighth day(AL) on, the priests are to present your burnt offerings(AM) and fellowship offerings(AN) on the altar. Then I will accept you, declares the Sovereign Lord.”
