A Sword Against Jerusalem
5 “And you, son of man, take a sharp sword, take it as a barber’s razor, (A)and pass it over your head and your beard; then take scales to weigh and divide the hair. 2 (B)You shall burn with fire one-third in the midst of (C)the city, when (D)the days of the siege are finished; then you shall take one-third and strike around it with the sword, and one-third you shall scatter in the wind: I will draw out a sword after (E)them. 3 (F)You shall also take a small number of them and bind them in the edge of your garment. 4 Then take some of them again and (G)throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will go out into all the house of Israel.
5 “Thus says the Lord God: ‘This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations and the countries all around her. 6 She has rebelled against My judgments by doing wickedness more than the nations, and against My statutes more than the countries that are all around her; for they have refused My judgments, and they have not walked in My statutes.’ 7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have [a]multiplied disobedience more than the nations that are all around you, have not walked in My statutes (H)nor kept My judgments, [b]nor even done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you’— 8 therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Indeed I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations. 9 (I)And I will do among you what I have never done, and the like of which I will never do again, because of all your abominations. 10 Therefore fathers (J)shall eat their sons in your midst, and sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments among you, and all of you who remain I will (K)scatter to all the winds.
11 ‘Therefore, as I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘surely, because you have (L)defiled My sanctuary with all your (M)detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; (N)My eye will not spare, nor will I have any pity. 12 (O)One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and (P)I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after (Q)them.
13 ‘Thus shall My anger (R)be spent, and I will (S)cause My fury to rest upon them, (T)and I will be avenged; (U)and they shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it in My zeal, when I have spent My fury upon them. 14 Moreover (V)I will make you a waste and a reproach among the nations that are all around you, in the sight of all who pass by.
15 ‘So [c]it shall be a (W)reproach, a taunt, a (X)lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in (Y)furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I (Z)send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your (AA)supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and (AB)wild beasts, and they will bereave you. (AC)Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’ ”

5 Nagsiling pa gid ang Ginoo sa akon, “Tawo, kuha ka sang matalom nga espada kag gamita nga pangkiskis sa imo buhok kag burangos. Dayon kiluha ang imo buhok kag burangos sa pagpartida sini sa tatlo ka parte. 2 Ibutang ang isa ka parte sa tisa nga gindrowingan mo sang Jerusalem, kag sunuga ini dira sa tunga sang siyudad pagkatapos sang pagpakita mo sang pagkibon sini. Ibutang ang isa pa ka parte sa palibot sang siyudad kag pang-utda-utda ini sang imo espada. Ang nabilin nga parte isabwag sa kahanginan, kay laptahon ko ang akon katawhan paagi sa espada. 3 Pero magbilin ka sang diutay lang nga buhok kag putsa ini sa imo bayo. 4 Dayon kuhai ini sang pila ka bilog kag ihaboy sa kalayo agod masunog. Halin sa sini magalapta ang kalayo kag magasunog sa bug-os nga Israel.
5 “Ako, ang Ginoong Dios, nagasiling nga amo ato ang dangatan sang Jerusalem, ang siyudad nga ginhimo ko nga pinakaimportante nga lugar sa kalibutan. 6 Ginlapas niya ang akon mga sugo, kag mas malaot pa siya sang sa iban nga mga nasyon sa iya palibot. Ginsikway niya ang akon mga sugo kag mga pagsulundan. 7 Gani ako, ang Ginoong Dios, nagasiling: Kamo nga mga taga-Jerusalem, mas malaot pa kamo sang sa iban nga mga nasyon sa inyo palibot. Wala ninyo pagtumana ang akon mga sugo kag mga pagsulundan, kag wala man gani ninyo pagtumana[a] ang mga pagsulundan sang mga nasyon sa inyo palibot. 8 Gani ako, ang Ginoong Dios, nagakontra sa inyo. Silutan ko kamo nga makita sang mga nasyon. 9 Tungod sa inyo makangilil-ad nga mga ginahimo, himuon ko sa inyo ang wala ko pa mahimo kag ang indi ko na paghimuon pa. 10 Kaunon sang mga ginikanan ang ila mga anak, kag kaunon sang mga anak ang ila mga ginikanan. Silutan ko gid kamo, kag ang mga mabilin sa inyo laptahon ko sa bug-os nga kalibutan. 11 Ako, ang buhi nga Ginoong Dios, nagasumpa nga laglagon ko kamo nga wala sing luoy-luoy tungod nga ginhigkuan ninyo ang akon templo paagi sa pagsimba sa mga dios-dios kag sa paghimo sang makangilil-ad nga mga butang. 12 Partihon ko kamo sa tatlo ka parte. Ang isa ka parte magakalamatay paagi sa gutom kag mga balatian dira sa siyudad. Ang isa pa ka parte magakalamatay paagi sa espada sa guwa sang siyudad. Kag ang mabilin nga parte laptahon ko sa bug-os nga kalibutan kag padayon ko sila nga hingabuton.[b]
13 “Kon matabo na ini maumpawan na ako sa akon puwerte nga kaakig sa inyo, kag makabalos na ako. Kon mapatilaw ko na kamo sang akon kaakig, mahibaluan ninyo nga ako, ang Ginoo, nagpakighambal sa inyo tungod sa akon puwerte nga balatyagon sa inyo. 14 Gub-on ko ang inyo siyudad kag pakahuy-an kamo sang mga nasyon sa inyo palibot kag sang mga nagaalagi sa inyo lugar. 15 Pakahuy-an, yagutaon, kag kangidlisan kamo sang mga nasyon sa inyo palibot. Mangin paandam kamo sa ila sa tion nga silutan ko kamo sa akon puwerte nga kaakig. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini. 16 Padal-an ko kamo sang gutom nga pareho sang pana nga magalaglag sa inyo. Magagrabe nga magagrabe ang gutom hasta nga wala na kamo sang may makaon. 17 Wala labot sa gutom padal-an ko man kamo sang mapintas nga mga sapat kag pamatyon nila ang inyo mga anak. Magakalamatay man kamo sa mga balatian kag sa inaway. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.”

5 And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber's razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
2 Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.
3 Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.
4 Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
5 Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
6 And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
9 And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.
10 Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter into all the winds.
11 Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord God; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
12 A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
13 Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the Lord have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.
14 Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
15 So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the Lord have spoken it.
16 When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
17 So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee: and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the Lord have spoken it.
