Ezekiel 39
New Century Version
The Death of Gog and His Army
39 “Human, prophesy against Gog and say, ‘This is what the Lord God says: I am against you, Gog, chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal. 2 I will turn you around and lead you. I will bring you from the far north and send you to attack the mountains of Israel. 3 I will knock your bow out of your left hand and throw down your arrows from your right hand. 4 You, all your troops, and the nations with you will fall dead on the mountains of Israel. I will let you be food for every bird that eats meat and for every wild animal. 5 You will lie fallen on the ground, because I have spoken, says the Lord God. 6 I will send fire on Magog and those who live in safety on the coastlands. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
7 “‘I will make myself known among my people Israel, and I will not let myself be dishonored anymore. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. 8 It is coming! It will happen, says the Lord God. The time I talked about is coming.
9 “‘Then those who live in the cities of Israel will come out and make fires with the enemy’s weapons. They will burn them, both large and small shields, bows and arrows, war clubs, and spears. They will use the weapons to burn in their fires for seven years. 10 They will not need to take wood from the field or chop firewood from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons. In this way they will take the treasures of those who took their treasures; they will take the loot of those who took their loot, says the Lord God.
11 “‘At that time I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, in the Valley of the Travelers, east of the Dead Sea. It will block the road for travelers. Gog and all his army will be buried there, so people will call it The Valley of Gog’s Army.
12 “‘The people of Israel will be burying them for seven months to make the land clean again. 13 All the people in the land will bury them, and they will be honored on the day of my victory, says the Lord God.
14 “‘The people of Israel will choose men to work through the land to make it clean. Along with others, they will bury Gog’s soldiers still lying dead on the ground. After the seven months are finished, they will still search. 15 As they go through the land, anyone who sees a human bone is to put a marker by it. The sign will stay there until the gravediggers bury the bone in The Valley of Gog’s Army. 16 A city will be there named Hamonah. So they will make the land clean again.’
17 “Human, this is what the Lord God says: Speak to every kind of bird and wild animal: ‘Come together, come! Come together from all around to my sacrifice, a great sacrifice which I will prepare for you on the mountains of Israel. Eat flesh and drink blood! 18 You are to eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the rulers of the earth as if they were fat animals from Bashan: male sheep, lambs, goats, and bulls. 19 You are to eat and drink from my sacrifice which I have prepared for you, eating fat until you are full and drinking blood until you are drunk. 20 At my table you are to eat until you are full of horses and riders, mighty men and all kinds of soldiers,’ says the Lord God.
21 “I will show my glory among the nations. All the nations will see my power when I punish them. 22 From that time onward the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God. 23 The nations will know Israel was taken away captive because they turned against me. So I turned away from them and handed them over to their enemies until all of them died in war. 24 Because of their uncleanness and their sins, I punished them and turned away from them.
25 “So this is what the Lord God says: Now I will bring the people of Jacob back from captivity, and I will have mercy on the whole nation of Israel. I will not let them dishonor me. 26 The people will forget their shame and how they rejected me when they live again in safety on their own land with no one to make them afraid. 27 I will bring the people back from other lands and gather them from the lands of their enemies. So I will use my people to show many nations that I am holy. 28 Then my people will know that I am the Lord their God, because I sent them into captivity among the nations, but then I brought them back to their own land, leaving no one behind. 29 I will not turn away from them anymore, because I will put my Spirit into the people of Israel, says the Lord God.”

Prophecy against Gog—Invaders Destroyed
39 “And (A)you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, ‘This is what the Lord [a]God says: “Behold, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; 2 and I will turn you around, lead you on a rope, take you up from the remotest parts of the north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. 3 Then I will (B)strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows fall from your right hand. 4 You will (C)fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops, and the peoples who are with you; I will give you as (D)food to every [b]kind of predatory bird and animal of the field. 5 You will fall on the [c]open field; for it is I who have spoken,” declares the Lord God. 6 “And I will send (E)fire upon Magog and those who inhabit the (F)coastlands in safety; and they will know that I am the Lord.
7 “And I will make My (G)holy name known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not allow My holy name to be (H)profaned anymore. But the (I)nations will know that I am the Lord, the (J)Holy One in Israel. 8 Behold, it is coming and it shall be done,” declares the Lord God. “That is the day of which I have spoken.
9 “Then those who inhabit the cities of Israel will (K)go out and make (L)fires with the weapons and burn them, both [d]bucklers and shields, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears, and for seven years they will make fires of them. 10 They will not take wood from the field or gather firewood from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; and they will take the spoils of those who plundered them and seize the (M)plunder of those who plundered them,” declares the Lord God.
11 “On that day I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea, and it will block the way of those who would pass by. So they will bury Gog there with all his horde, and they will call it the Valley of [e]Hamon-gog. 12 For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them in order to (N)cleanse the land. 13 And all the people of the land will bury them; and it will be [f]to their (O)renown on the day that I (P)appear in My glory,” declares the Lord God. 14 “They will also select men who will constantly pass through the land, (Q)burying those who were passing through, those left on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will conduct a search. 15 As those who pass through the land pass through and anyone sees a human bone, then he will [g]set up a marker by it until the burial detail has buried it in the Valley of [h]Hamon-gog. 16 And even the name of the city will be Hamonah. So they will cleanse the land.”’
17 “Now as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord God says: ‘Say to every [i]kind of (R)bird and to every (S)animal of the field: “Assemble and come, gather from every direction to My sacrifice, which I am going to (T)sacrifice for you as a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel; and you will eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You will (U)eat the flesh of warriors and drink the blood of the leaders of the earth, as though they were (V)rams, lambs, goats, and (W)bulls, all of them fattened livestock of (X)Bashan. 19 So you will eat fat until you are full, and drink blood until you are drunk, from My sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. 20 You will eat your fill at My table with (Y)horses and charioteers, with warriors and all the men of war,” declares the Lord God.
21 “And I will place My (Z)glory among the nations; and all the nations will see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. 22 And the house of Israel will (AA)know that I am the Lord their God, from that day onward. 23 The nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their (AB)wrongdoing, because they were disloyal to Me, and I (AC)hid My face from them; so I handed them over to their adversaries, and all of them fell by the sword. 24 (AD)In accordance with their uncleanness and their offenses I dealt with them, and I hid My face from them.”’”
Israel Restored
25 Therefore this is what the Lord God says: “Now I will (AE)restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on all the (AF)house of Israel; and I will be (AG)jealous for My holy name. 26 They will [j](AH)forget their disgrace and all their [k]treachery which they perpetrated against Me, when they (AI)live securely on their own land with (AJ)no one to make them afraid. 27 When I (AK)bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall (AL)show Myself holy [l]through them in the sight of the many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am the Lord their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then I gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. 29 I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have (AM)poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares the Lord God.

King James Version
39 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord God.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord God.
21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.
23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
25 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
28 Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.
