^2 (A)“Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: ^(B)Ah, shepherds of Israel ^(C)who have been feeding yourselves! ^(D)Should not shepherds feed the sheep?

23 ^(A)“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord.

¹⁵ “‘And ^(A)I will give you shepherds after my own heart, ^(B)who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

⁴⁶ “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and ^(A)the places of honor at feasts, ^47 (B)who devour widows' houses and ^(C)for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

^8 (A)As I live, declares the Lord God, surely because ^(B)my sheep have become a prey, and my sheep have become food for all the wild beasts, since there was no shepherd, and because my shepherds have not searched for my sheep, but the shepherds have fed themselves, and have not fed my sheep, ⁹ therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: ¹⁰ Thus says the Lord God, ^(C)Behold, I am against the shepherds, and ^(D)I will require my sheep at their hand and ^(E)put a stop to their feeding the sheep. ^(F)No longer shall the shepherds feed themselves. ^(G)I will rescue my sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.

³ And ^(A)in their greed they will exploit you ^(B)with false words. ^(C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
