Ezekiel 28-30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Tyre’s King Overthrown
“Because your heart is lifted up
6 Therefore thus says the Lord God,
‘Because you have made your heart
11 Again the word of the Lord came to me saying, 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God,
“You [d]had the seal of perfection,
Judgment of Sidon
20 And the word of the Lord came to me saying, 21 “Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, prophesy against her 22 and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God,
“Behold, I am against you, O Sidon,
24 And there will be no more for the house of Israel a prickling brier or a painful thorn from any round about them who scorned them; then they will know that I am the Lord God.”
25 ‘Thus says the Lord God, “When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and will manifest My holiness in them in the sight of the nations, then they will live in their [m]land which I gave to My servant Jacob. 26 They will live in it securely; and they will build houses, plant vineyards and live securely when I execute judgments upon all who scorn them round about them. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.”’”
Judgment of Egypt
29 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt and prophesy against him and against all Egypt. 3 Speak and say, ‘Thus says the Lord [n]God,
“Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt,
8 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will bring upon you a sword and I will cut off from you man and beast. 9 The land of Egypt will become a desolation and waste. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
Because [y]you said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I have made it,’ 10 therefore, behold, I am against you and against your [z]rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene and even to the border of [aa]Ethiopia. 11 A man’s foot will not pass through it, and the foot of a beast will not pass through it, and it will not be inhabited for forty years. 12 So I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated lands. And her cities, in the midst of cities that are laid waste, will be desolate forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands.”
13 ‘For thus says the Lord God, “At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples [ab]among whom they were scattered. 14 I will turn the fortunes of Egypt and make them return to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin, and there they will be a lowly kingdom. 15 It will be the lowest of the kingdoms, and it will never again lift itself up above the nations. And I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations. 16 And it will never again be the confidence of the house of Israel, [ac]bringing to mind the iniquity of their having turned [ad]to Egypt. Then they will know that I am the Lord God.”’”
17 Now in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying, 18 “Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor [ae]hard against Tyre; every head was made bald and every shoulder was rubbed bare. But he and his army had no wages from Tyre for the labor that he had [af]performed against it.” 19 Therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. And he will carry off her [ag]wealth and capture her spoil and seize her plunder; and it will be wages for his army. 20 I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor which he [ah]performed, because they acted for Me,” declares the Lord God.
21 “On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will [ai]open your mouth in their midst. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
Lament over Egypt
30 The word of the Lord came again to me saying, 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord [aj]God,
“Wail, ‘Alas for the day!’
6 ‘Thus says the Lord,
9 On that day messengers will go forth from Me in ships to frighten secure [ar]Ethiopia; and anguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt; for behold, it comes!”
10 ‘Thus says the Lord God,
“I will also make the [as]hordes of Egypt cease
13 ‘Thus says the Lord God,
“I will also destroy the idols
Victory for Babylon
20 In the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying, 21 “Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, behold, it has not been bound up [bg]for healing [bh]or wrapped with a bandage, that it may be strong to hold the sword. 22 Therefore thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt and will break his arms, both the strong and the broken; and I will make the sword fall from his hand. 23 I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands. 24 For I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put My sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, so that he will groan before him with the groanings of a wounded man. 25 Thus I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt. 26 When I scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands, then they will know that I am the Lord.’”
