¹⁰ “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because the great cedar towered over the thick foliage, and because it was proud^(A) of its height,

² “Son of man^(A), say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

⁶ But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

¹⁹ For it is written:

²⁰ Where is the wise person?^(B) Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age?^(C) Has not God made foolish^(D) the wisdom of the world? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world^(E) through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save^(F) those who believe.^(G)

²² Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools^{(A) 23} and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images^(B) made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

²⁴ Therefore God gave them over^(C) in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.^{(D) 25} They exchanged the truth about God for a lie,^(E) and worshiped and served created things^(F) rather than the Creator—who is forever praised.^(G) Amen.^(H)

¹¹ For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”^(A)
