The Lord's Everlasting Covenant

⁵⁹ “For thus says the Lord God: I will deal with you as you have done, you ^(A)who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant,

¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. I will return it upon his head.

⁸ but for those who are self-seeking^[a] and ^(A)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. ⁹ There will be tribulation and distress ^(B)for every human being who does evil, the Jew ^(C)first and also the Greek,

Judging Others

7 ^(A)“Judge not, that you be not judged. ^2 (B)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and ^(C)with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

^13 (A)And he took one of the royal offspring^{[a] (B)}and made a covenant with him, ^(C)putting him under oath (^(D)the chief men of the land he had taken away), ¹⁴ that the kingdom might be humble and not lift itself up, and keep his covenant that it might stand. ^15 (E)But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors ^(F)to Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. ^(G)Will he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he ^(H)break the covenant and yet escape?

^16 (I)“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely ^(J)in the place where the king dwells ^(K)who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die.

⁴ Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Any one of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and sets the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to the prophet, ^(A)I the Lord will answer him as he comes with the multitude of his idols,

⁸ Now I will soon ^(A)pour out my wrath upon you, and ^(B)spend my anger against you, ^(C)and judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations. ^9 (D)And my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. ^(E)Then you will know that I am the Lord, who strikes.
