The Exile Symbolized

12 The word of the Lord came to me: ² “Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people.^(A) They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.^(B)

³ “Therefore, son of man, pack your belongings for exile and in the daytime, as they watch, set out and go from where you are to another place. Perhaps^(C) they will understand,^(D) though they are a rebellious people.^(E)

² “This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard^(A) of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord.^(B) Tell^(C) them everything I command you; do not omit^(D) a word. ³ Perhaps they will listen and each will turn^(E) from their evil ways. Then I will relent^(F) and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.
