The Law of Sabbaths

10 (A)“Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce, 11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat. In like manner you shall do with your vineyard and your [a]olive grove. 12 (B)Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female servant and the stranger may be refreshed.

13 “And in all that I have said to you, (C)be circumspect and (D)make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth.

Three Annual Feasts(E)

14 (F)“Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year: 15 (G)You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; (H)none shall appear before Me empty); 16 (I)and the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and (J)the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field.

17 (K)“Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord [b]God.

18 (L)“You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened (M)bread; nor shall the fat of My [c]sacrifice remain until morning. 19 (N)The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God. (O)You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

The Sabbath Law

12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: (A)‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who (B)sanctifies[a] you. 14 (C)You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who [b]profanes it shall surely be put to death; for (D)whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Work shall be done for (E)six days, but the (F)seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. 17 It is (G)a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for (H)in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”

Whoever does any work on it shall be put to (C)death. (D)You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
