⁷ Then you shall take ^(A)the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.

¹⁵ and you shall anoint them even as you have anointed their father, that they may minister as priests to Me; and their anointing will be for them for a ^(A)perpetual priesthood throughout their generations.”

16 Then Yahweh said to Samuel, “^(A)How long will you be grieving over Saul? ^(B)I have rejected him from being king over Israel. ^(C)Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to ^(D)Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I ^(E)see among his sons a king for Me.”

¹² So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with ^(A)beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And Yahweh said, “^(B)Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” ¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and ^(C)anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and ^(D)the Spirit of Yahweh ^[a]came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Seventy Weeks and the Messiah

²⁴ “Seventy ^[a](A)weeks have been determined for your people and for your holy city, to ^[b]finish the transgression, to ^[c]make an end of sin, to ^(B)make atonement for iniquity, to bring in ^(C)everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and ^[d]prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. ²⁵ So you are to know and have insight that from the going out of a ^[e](D)word to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until ^[f](E)Messiah the ^(F)Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be restored and rebuilt, with ^[g]plaza and moat, even in times of distress. ²⁶ Then after the sixty-two weeks the ^[h]Messiah will be ^(G)cut off and have ^[i]nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will ^(H)destroy the city and the sanctuary. And ^[j]its end will come with a ^(I)flood; even to the end ^[k]there will be war; desolations are decreed.
