¹² “^(A)Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall ^[a]rest so that your ox and your donkey may ^[b]rest, and the son of your maidservant, as well as your sojourner, may refresh themselves.

¹³ “But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘^(A)You shall surely keep My sabbaths; for this is ^(B)a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahweh who makes you holy. ¹⁴ Therefore you shall keep the sabbath, for it is holy to you. ^(C)Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. ^15 (D)Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a ^(E)sabbath of complete rest, holy to Yahweh; ^(F)whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death. ¹⁶ So the sons of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to ^[a]celebrate the sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.’

^2 (A)You shall keep My sabbaths and fear My sanctuary; I am Yahweh.
