23 And he said to them, “This is what Yahweh has spoken: (A)Tomorrow is a sabbath observance, a holy sabbath to Yahweh. Bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and (B)all that is in excess [a]put aside to be kept until morning.” 24 So they [b]put it aside until morning, as Moses had commanded, and (C)it did not become foul nor was there any worm in it. 25 And Moses said, “Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to Yahweh; today you will not find it in the field. 26 (D)Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there will be [c]none.”

27 Now it happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather, but they found none. 28 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “(E)How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My [d]laws? 29 See, Yahweh has given you the sabbath; therefore He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. 13 “But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘(A)You shall surely keep My sabbaths; for this is (B)a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahweh who makes you holy. 14 Therefore you shall keep the sabbath, for it is holy to you. (C)Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 (D)Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a (E)sabbath of complete rest, holy to Yahweh; (F)whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to [a]celebrate the sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.’ 17 (G)It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; (H)for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.”

18 When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses (I)the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, (J)written by the finger of God.
