God Hears Israel’s Groaning

²³ Now it happened in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel ^(A)sighed because of the slavery, and they cried out; and ^(B)their cry for help because of their slavery rose up to God. ²⁴ So ^(C)God heard their groaning; and God remembered ^(D)His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

⁷ And Yahweh said, “I have surely ^(A)seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sufferings.

⁹ So now, behold, ^(A)the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.
