⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, ^(A)I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may ^(B)test them, whether or not they will walk in My ^[a]law.

¹⁵ And the sons of Israel saw it and said to one another, “^[a]What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “^(A)It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.

²¹ So they gathered it morning by morning, every man ^[a]as much as he should eat; but the sun would grow hot, and it would melt.

⁸ The people would go about and gather it and grind it ^[a]between two millstones or beat it in the mortar, and boil it in the pot and make cakes with it; and its taste was as the taste of ^[b]cakes baked with oil.

^49 (A)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

⁵⁸ This is the bread which ^(A)came down out of heaven, not as ^(B)the fathers ate and died. He who eats this bread ^(C)will live forever.”
