Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: and ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect,(A) and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month,(B) when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.(C) Then they are to take some of the blood(D) and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
