¹⁷ Though the fig tree does not bud
    and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
    and the fields produce no food,^(A)
though there are no sheep in the pen
    and no cattle in the stalls,^(B)

⁹ “Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards,
    destroying them with blight and mildew.^(A)
Locusts^(B) devoured your fig and olive trees,^(C)
    yet you have not returned^(D) to me,”
declares the Lord.
