²⁰ The ^(A)firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And ^(B)none shall appear before me empty-handed.

^16 (A)“Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. ^(B)They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed.

^15 (A)You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of ^(B)Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt. ^(C)None shall appear before me empty-handed.

^13 (A)Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. Every ^(B)firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.

^15 (A)Everything that opens the womb of all flesh, whether man or beast, which they offer to the Lord, shall be yours. Nevertheless, ^(B)the firstborn of man you shall redeem, and the firstborn of unclean animals you shall redeem.

¹⁵ For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the ^(A)Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all the males that first open the womb, but ^(B)all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

⁷ Then Saul said to his servant, “But if we go, ^(A)what can we bring the man? For the bread in our sacks is gone, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?” ⁸ The servant answered Saul again, “Here, I have with me a quarter of a shekel^[a] of silver, and I will give it to the man of God to tell us our way.”

²⁴ But the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels^[a] of silver.

^45 (A)“Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle. The Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord. ⁴⁶ And ^(B)as the redemption price for the 273 of the firstborn of the people of Israel, over and above the number of the male Levites, ⁴⁷ you shall take ^(C)five shekels^[a] per head; you shall take them according to ^(D)the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel of twenty gerahs^[b]), ⁴⁸ and give the money to Aaron and his sons as the redemption price for those who are over.” ⁴⁹ So Moses took the redemption money from those who were over and above those redeemed by the Levites. ⁵⁰ From the firstborn of the people of Israel he took the money, ^(E)1,365 shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary. ⁵¹ And Moses ^(F)gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
