² I will send an ^(A)angel before you, ^(B)and I will drive out the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

^11 (A)And you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho, ^(B)and the leaders of Jericho fought against you, and also ^(C)the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave them into your hand.

^34 (A)But now go, lead the people to the place about which I have spoken to you; ^(B)behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin upon them.”

²⁷ I will send ^(A)my terror before you and will throw into ^(B)confusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. ²⁸ And ^(C)I will send hornets^[a] before you, which shall drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites from before you. ^29 (D)I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you. ³⁰ Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land. ^31 (E)And I will set your border from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates,^[b] for ^(F)I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.

Conquest of Canaan Promised

^20 (A)“Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.

⁸ and ^(A)I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and ^(B)to bring them up out of that land to a ^(C)good and broad land, a land ^(D)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of ^(E)the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

^22 (A)The Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little. You may not make an end of them at once,^[a] lest the wild beasts grow too numerous for you.

¹¹ “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, ^(A)I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

¹⁷ and I promise that ^(A)I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land ^(B)flowing with milk and honey.”’
